StarCraft Universe Final Testament Video Shows Off Multiplayer Battle

The StarCraft Universe Kickstarter is coming to an end in four days and is still a little over $10,000 short of its goal of $80,000. Hoping to stir up some more excitement for the project, the team has released its first alpha of multiplayer for its ambitious StarCraft II mod. Called Final Testament, the newest release of StarCraft Universe can be played for free on the StarCraft II Starter Edition as a custom map, and players can experience how the multiplayer is.

Up until this point, StarCraft Universe only had a single player release proving that the team is working hard on developing MMO-quality raids in an RTS engine. While there are still plenty of bugs to work out, the team promises that it has been working closely with Blizzard Entertainment to tweak the StarCraft II Map Editor in order to support and bring MMO-quality raids to the custom map.

Beyond: Two Souls Demo Available on October 1

Sony has announced that the BEYOND: Two Souls demo will be available for download on October 1, 2013 in the U.S. The company also revealed that some players will have an opportunity to get in on September 24, but those details will be announced at a later date.

In the BEYOND Two Souls demo, players will get to check out two scenes in the game that promises to “give insight into the extraordinary story that awaits you next month.” The first scene is titled “Jodie & Aiden” and players will take the role of a young Jodie as she takes part in an experiment at the Department of Paranormal Activities. The second scene, called “Hunted” will have players skipping forward a few years to help Jodie escape government agents. Both scenes will reveal more about the mysterious entity that is tied to Jodie’s character and the astonishing powers it will have.

Developed by Quantic Dream, BEYOND: Two Souls stars Ellen Page and Willem Dafoe and will be released exclusively for the PlayStation 3 on October 8, in North America.

Dark Souls II Beta Signups Available, Announcement Trailer Released

Love to die in video games? A lot? Dark Souls II is heading your way, the sequel to the original Dark Souls, which was a spiritual successor to Demon’s Souls originally released for the PlayStation 3 on October 6, 2009.

Publisher Namco Bandai has opened up beta signups for Dark Souls II on PlayStation 3 and the first round of beta will be open in North America, Europe, and Australia on October 12. A second wave will follow on October 27.

If you wish to participate in the Dark Souls II beta, you can click here to add a registration ticket to your PSN basket. Beta players will be selected randomly out of all those that download the registration ticket, so don’t worry about it becoming a first-come, first-serve beta.

Dark Souls II will be released on the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and PC on March 14, 2014. So far the PlayStation 3 is the only console that is doing a beta for the game.

Project Phoenix Heading to PlayStation 4 and Vita

Project Phoenix will be heading to the PlayStation 4 and the PlayStation Vita, Creative Intelligence Arts has announced on its Kickstarter page. The squad-based RTS game with heavy JRPG influences first appeared on Kickstarter on August 12 and features an all-star cast of developers that include Steffen Unger and Nobou Uematsu. With a project goal of just $100,000, which was set to fund the creation of the game’s 3D models, the Kickstarter has raised over $730,000 with five days to go.

Originally, the team planned to develop the title mainly for PC and Mac, but now it will be heading to the Sony PlayStation 4 and the Vita. You can watch a video about Project Phoenix below, where the game’s creator, director, and producer Hiroaki Yura explains the use of terrain in combat.

Today’s Pokemon Direct revealed plenty of information on the upcoming Pokemon X and Pokemon Y games being released on October 12, 2013 for the Nintendo 2DS and Nintendo 3DS systems. In a surprising twist, players of the new Pokemon games will not receive Chespin, Fennekin, or Froakie from Professor Sycamore but rather get to choose from classic Pokemons Bulbasaur, Charmander, or Squirtle. And once players have evolved their starting Pokemons to Venusaur, Charizard, or Blastoise, they will be able to obtain the Pokemons’ unique Mega Stone to Mega Evolve them into battle to Mega Venusaur, Mega Charizard, and Mega Blastoise.

The Pokemon Direct also announced that players will have a second requirement to fulfill in order for Mega Evolutions to occur. In addition to acquiring a unique Mega Stone, players will have to obtain a bracelet called the Mega Ring that holds a mysterious stone called a Key Stone. The Trainer’s Key Stone will resonate with the Mega Stone in order to trigger the Mega Evolution.

A Pokemon Bank was also announced, a new 2DS and 3DS application that allows Pokemon X and Pokemon Y players to store up to 3,000 Pokemons in the cloud. There will be an annual fee to use the Pokemon Bank, though pricing on that has not yet been announced. There will be a free trial period when the Pokemon Bank hits the Nintendo eShop.

There’s so much to look forward to with Watch Dogs, an upcoming title by Ubisoft that will be released on the PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360, Xbox One, Wii U, and PC by November 19, 2013. To give us a detailed look into what to expect in the open-world game, Ubisoft has released a lengthy gameplay video that’s almost 15 minutes long.

The focus of the video is to show how versatile the gameplay is in Watch Dogs, where players will be able to tackle tasks however they want. Whether it’s to go in guns blazing, stealth around for takedowns, or hack everything in sight for an advantage, Watch Dogs caters to different play styles and no one will be restricted on how they can accomplish thet asks in the game.

Watch the Gorgeous Rime Trailer in HD

Sony has finally released the Rime trailer in full HD for the world to enjoy.

Revealed during Sony’s lengthy press conference at Gamescom 2013, Rime will be heading to the PlayStation 4 at some point in 2014. It is currently being developed by Tequila Works, the creators of Deadlight, a sidescrolling survival horror game for the Xbox 360 and PC.

Though details on Rime are light, its beautiful artwork instantly draws comparisons to ICO and The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker.

Diablo III PS3 Dupe Already Discovered

That was fast. Diablo III officially comes out today for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 and already someone has posted a way to dupe items in the PlayStation 3 version. By cleverly manipulating the user accounts on the PlayStation 3, a Diablo III PS3 dupe is already rampant, though it’s safe to say its effects won’t be as harmful as it would be on the PC version.

The console versions of Diablo III lack an auction house, and more importantly, a Real Money auction house. Which really means players are just ruining the game for themselves by duping items. But hey, at least it’s an easy way to share gear between friends when you’re all sitting on a couch slaying the demons of Hell.

Plants vs. Zombies Garden Warfare Multiplayer Only, Xbox One Version More Expensive

Plants vs. Zombies Garden Warfare will be heading to the PC, Xbox 360, and Xbox One sometime in 2014 and will be a multiplayer shooter game based on the popular Plants vs. Zombies franchise. Interestingly enough, the game will be multiplayer only with four-player cooperative or 24-player multiplayer competitive. And unlike the recently released Plants vs. Zombies 2 on iOS, Garden Warfare will hardly be a free-to-play title.

It will be priced at $29.99 for the Xbox 360 and the PC while the Xbox One version will run $39.99. The Xbox One version of Garden Warfare will see exclusive content such as Boss Mode, which allows players to take on the role of either Dr. Zomboss or Crazy Dave. What it will do to follow in the footsteps of Plants vs. Zombies 2 however, is offer DLC and content updates to keep players engaged in the long haul.
