Angry Birds Star Wars II will be unleashed on iOS, Android and Windows 8 mobile devices on September 19, 2013 and Rovio has revealed an official gameplay trailer showing off a ton of new features to the popular franchise. Based on the Star Wars movie prequels, Angry Birds Star Wars II will allow players to “Join the Pork Side” to play as Darth Maul, General Grievous, Darth Vader and other villains.

There will be over 30 playable characters in Angry Birds Star Wars II including Yoda, pod-racing Anakin, Mace Windu, Jango Fett and more. It also appears that Rovio has taken a page from the popular Skylanders franchise – and also Disney Infinity – with the integration of Angry Birds Star Wars Telepods. The Telepods figures can be used with your device’s camera in order to teleport your favorite characters into the game. The functionality allows you to swap characters at any time while you play.

Gotta Catch ‘Em All Competition is Your Surprise Pokemon Announcement

The surprise announcement from the Pokemon Company is a new Gotta Catch ‘Em All competition, bringing back the classic tagline. The competition is open to residents of the U.S. and they’ll have a chance to collect codes in order to win various Pokemon prizes. There will be codes hidden all over the Internet, which can be entered into the competition’s website to unlock a Poke Ball. Inside each Poke Ball is a Pokemon, a digital gift and a chance to win more prizes.

So if you’re interested in competing in the contest, check various Pokemon-related Facebook and Twitter pages. The first code to unlock access to the competition is located in the video below, a dub step-filled rendition of the popular “Gotta Catch ‘Em All” music video. If you can’t stand listening or watching it, which is totally understandable, here’s the code to unlock access to the site: XY1012.

As a reminder, Pokemon X and Pokemon Y will be released on the Nintendo 2DS and 3DS on October 12, 2013.

Sony PlayStation Tokyo Game Show Press Conference Schedule

Sony has announced three stage events for this year’s Tokyo Game Show with the three events taking place on three different days. Along with announcements of PlayStation Vita, PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 4 games, we expect that Sony will also be unveiling technology from its other divisions, such as its Xperia line, during the event. Here’s the schedule of press conferences along with links to watch them live streaming online, though it’s unclear if Sony will be providing a translator for U.S. viewers. For its PS Vita TV reveal event, Sony had a UStream with translators, so we’ll keep an eye out for the same for these events.

Let’s keep in mind that these events is being held in Japan, where the PlayStation 4 isn’t being released until February 22, 2014. It’s likely that Sony will put more of a focus on its new PS Vita TV and Vita handheld consoles, which will be coming out sooner in Japan. The Wonderful 101 is available for the Nintendo Wii U today in North America. Developed by Platinum Games, The Wonderful 101 is a new IP and is exclusive to the Wii U.

In The Wonderful 101, players will control a horde of superheroes that can turn into various objects through United Morphs. The more heroes that the players gather, the stronger their morph powers will become. The title has been criticized for its play controls, which involves players drawing shapes on the Wii U GamePad. Others have stated that once you get used to the controls, The Wonderful 101 is a wonderful game.

The game also has a cooperative mode that can support up to five players with one person using the GamePad.

Pokemon X and Y Details Revealed, Special Announcement Coming Monday

Pokemon X and Pokemon Y will be released on the Nintendo 2DS and 3DS on October 12, 2013, so it’s no surprise that the company has plenty of information coming in the following weeks. In addition to teasing a “special announcement” that will come on Monday at 8:00 AM PDT, plenty more details about the games’ Mega Evolutions have been revealed.

A new trailer shows off the evolved forms of Chespin, Fennekin and Froakie, the starter Pokemon. The company also announced that Mewtwo can achieve Mega Evolution allowing it to Mega Evolve into either Mega Mewtwo X or Mega Mewtwo Y, depending on which Mega Stone Mewtwo holds. Also announced was Mega Garchomp, a dragon and ground type Pokemon.

Trainers in Pokemon X and Pokemon Y will also get to show off their style by visiting boutiques and salons to change their outfits and hairstyles. Players will be able to change their clothes, hat, shoes and accessories. When players update their visual appearance in the game, their icons on the Player Search System will update as well.

The Lord of the Rings Online: Helm’s Deep Goes Live November 18

The Lord of the Rings Online: Helm’s Deep expansion will be available on November 18, 2013. Players can pre-purchase the expansion to the free-to-play MMORPG developed by Turbine.

Helm’s Deep will continue the story into the western plains of Rohan, where players will be able to join the legendary battle for Helm’s Deep while advancing to the new level cap of 95. Players will be able to fight to defend Helm’s Deep starting as early as level 10, where their character can enlist as a soldier in the Battle of the Hornburg. Players will be able to earn rewards for their contribution to the war effort.

Pre-order bonuses were also announced for the expansion’s two editions: base and premium. The base edition will have a retail price of $39.99 and will include:

  • Hauberk of the Hammerhand – an exclusive Rohirrim cosmetic chest piece
  • Helm’s Deep Title: Helm’s Enforcer
  • 1000 Turbine points

The premium edition will retail for $59.99 and includes:

  • Armour of the Hammerhand – an exclusive full set of Rohirrim cosmetic armour
  • +10 quest log slots
  • Crystal of Remembrance – adds one additional legacy to your legendary weapon
  • Helm’s Deep Title – Helm’s Enforcer

Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII Full Cast Revealed in New Gallery

The full cast for Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII has been revealed, confirming that Serah, Mog, Caius and Yeul will all make an appearance in the third game in the Final Fantasy XIII series. Square Enix also revealed more details about the game and how Lightning Returns will tie the previous two stories together for an epic conclusion to Lightning’s tale.

Noel, who starred in Final Fantasy XIII-2 alongside Lightning’s sister, Serah, has been blaming himself for bringing about the destruction of the world. His guilt has caused him to hide from society and has become known as the “Shadow Hunter.” Once Lightning tracks Noel down, Yeul appears before her and begs her to save Caius.

It’s clear now that Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII will feature every main character from the previous two games in the series. It will be interesting to see how Square Enix ties the story together, hopefully in a non-convoluted way.

Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII will be released on February 11, 2014 for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.

Need for Speed: Rivals Trailer Shows Off Personalization Gameplay

Need for Speed: Rivals is the 20th instalment in the long-running Need for Speed series and will be released on the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 on November 19, 2013. It will be available on the PlayStation 4 as a launch title on November 15, 2013 as well as the Xbox One, which releases on November 22, 2013.

The latest trailer for Need for Speed: Rivals, which is being developed by Ghost Games, shows off some gameplay as well as all the personalization options that will be available in the game. The gameplay in Need for Speed: Rivals will be similar to Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit meaning there will be plenty of luxury and exotics cars (such as the Audi R8 seen above) and high-speed police chases. Players can take the role of racer or cop, each having their own set of challenges, risks and rewards. The game will take place in fictional Redview County, an open-world area that will feature several jumps, speed traps and of course, unlockable cars.

Machinima has released a new trailer for its Mortal Kombat: Legacy II web series, which will have its season kick off on September 26, 2013. What’s shaping up more and more to be the Mortal Kombat movie we’ve always wanted and never got, the new trailer reveals a strong cast of movie stars as Liu Kang, Kung Lao, Kenshi, and Ermac join the ranks.

All the rivalries we know and love from the Mortal Kombat series will unfold as Raiden leads his team of recruits against the dark forces of Outworld. The epic battle for Earthrealm has finally begun.

For those unaware of the Mortal Kombat: Legacy series, the first season debuted on Machinima’s YouTube channel on April 11, 2011. It instantly became a huge hit on the Internet with Mortal Kombat fans. It was originally hoped and pitched that a new movie would be the result, but we had to settle for a web series which may have been the better result anyways.

The first season of Mortal Kombat: Legacy is actually a prequel to the original game, giving background to some of the series’ main characters. This season will actually cover the first tournament.

Peach Confirmed for Super Smash Bros. Wii U and 2DS / 3DS

Though it’s not a huge surprise to fans of the Smash Bros. franchise, Nintendo has confirmed that Peach will be a playable character in the new Super Smash Bros. heading to the Wii U, 2DS, and 3DS next year.

So far, Nintendo has confirmed the following characters for Super Smash Bros.: Peach, Luigi, Pikmin & Olimar, Villager, Mega Man, Wii Fit Trainer, Mario, Donkey Kong, Link, Samus, Kirby, Fox, Pikachu, Bowser, and Pit.

In other words, Nintendo is getting all the obvious characters out of the way, minus the new additions they revealed previously.

Etrian Odyssey Untold: The Millennium Girl will be released on the Nintendo 2DS and 3DS on October 1, 2013 in North America. The game was originally released in Japan on June 27, 2013 and is both a re-imagining and a remake of the first entry in the series. Atlus has released a new trailer for Etrian Odyssey Untold: The Millennium Girl, showing off the game’s Classic Mode, which includes an upgraded version of the original Etrian Odyssey adventure, complete with 3D graphics and gameplay improvements seen in Etrian Odyssey 4.

Etrian Odyssey IV: Legends of the Titan was released in North America on February 26, 2013 for the Nintendo 3DS. Those that love a classic JRPG absolutely loved the dungeon crawler and it looks like Etrian Odyssey Untold: The Millennium Girl will be a hit with fans. You can pre order the game and receive a collection of bonus items including a design book and soundtrack CD.

Final Fantasy Agito Trailer Released, Details Surface

Final Fantasy Agito is heading to Android and iOS devices this winter in Japan and more details about the game have surfaced. The game will indeed be a mobile adaptation of Final Fantasy Type-0, which never made it to North America. It will be free with microtransactions and according to Square Enix, the graphics are even better than the PSP game.

Characters from Final Fantasy Type-0 will return and according to the game’s producer, Hajime Tabata, the goal of Final Fantasy Agito is to draw up a story where the main characters from Type-0 follow a different path. The story can be played repeatedly in cycles, from life to death and you’ll progress through the story by chapters, and once they’re finished, you can play it again from the beginning.

Square Enix hopes to release new chapters for the game every two weeks and there will be a job system in Final Fantasy Agito.

Unfortunately, we still believe it’s unlikely that Final Fantasy Agito will be localized for North America. Unless Square Enix decides to pop up a surprise and announce that Final Fantasy Type-0 will finally make it to the U.S.

SCE Japan Studio’s Puppeteer was released yesterday in North America for the PlayStation 3, and in case you’ve been too caught up with the release of Kingdom Hearts HD 1.5 ReMIX, here’s the launch trailer for the PS3 exclusive side-scrolling platformer.

Puppeteer follows the story of Kutaro, whose puppet head has been chomped off by the evil Moon Bear King. The Moon Bear King has been stealing the souls of sleeping children and storing them inside puppets so that they can rot away in his castle. Kutaro, who has been given a pair of magical scissors called Calibrus by a mysterious witch, must venture forward to defeat the Moon King Bear’s generals in order to collect Moonstone shards.

As you will be able to tell in the trailer, Puppeteer features a unique, yet beautiful presentation set in a charming fairytale story. And with a $39.99 price tag, we highly recommend you to check out the game if you’re into platformers.

Diablo III: Storm of Light Novel Pre Order Available

The Diablo III: Storm of Light novel, by Nate Kenyon, is now available for pre order at Simon & Schuster for $16.99. According to the publisher’s website, it will be shipping on or around February 4, 2014.

The next novel in the Diablo series is written by the same author of The Order and will be a bridge between the events at the end of Diablo III and the story that will come in the game’s expansion, Reaper of Souls.

Diablo III was recently released on consoles for the PlayStation 3 and the Xbox 360. Its expansion, Reaper of Souls does not yet have an announced release date, but will add the new Crusader class, Loot 2.0, Act V, the Mystic crafter, and more.
