The Project Phoenix Kickstarter has ended with $1,014,600 raised, plenty more than the original $100,000 goal that was set. Creative Intelligence Arts, Inc. has confirmed that the squad-based, real-time strategy game with strong Japanese RPG influences will be heading to the PC, Mac, and Linux as well as the Sony PlayStation 4 and Sony PlayStation Vita.

When the Project Phoenix Kickstarter first appeared, there was a bit of skepticism given the amount set for its initial goal despite the long list of talent behind the game. With over $1 million raised, stretch goals that were reached include:

  • Double the amount of character and monster models
  • Nobuo Uematsu writes additional extended music
  • Detailed city system (full modelling of the cities and towns)
  • Customizable character creation
  • Fully explorable overworld, complete with an upgraded combat transition
  • And the ability to fight inside the Kraken

Project Phoenix will be a single-player game and has an estimated release date of mid-2015.
