The August NPD has been released and Madden 25 (Xbox 360, PS3) topped the sales charts for August. No real surprise there, considering the NFL football season just kicked off and there’s more than enough gamers out there to support the Madden franchise for an eternity. Rounding off the top three was Saints Row IV (Xbox 360, PS3, PC) and Disney Infinity (Xbox 360, PS3, Wii, Wii U).
The Nintendo 3DS was the best-selling console for the fourth month in a row while the Xbox 360 was the best-selling home console with 96,000 units. Overall, year-over-year software sales were up 23 percent to $293.4 million.
Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn, which was released on August 27, 2013 was in ninth place. You can read our review on FFXIV: ARR here.
