The year got off to a slower start than normal, with many of January’s biggest titles being updates (Animal Crossing: New Horizons – Nintendo Switch 2 Edition) and ports (Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade and Dispatch). Highguard did release and is a bit of a mixed bag, while The Seven Deadly Sins: Origin moved its release date out of the way of Arknights: Endfield. For most of the month, we mainly played StarRupture in Early Access before focusing on Arknights: Endfield. Now we’re looking forward to February, which has several games we’re hoping to spend time with.
Most people would agree that the biggest new release in February 2026 is Resident Evil Requiem. As the ninth mainline entry in the franchise, Resident Evil Requiem sees the return of Leon Kennedy, who will provide a gameplay contrast to co-protagonist Grace Ashcroft. Fans of JRPGs have Dragon Quest VII Reimagined and Tales of Berseria Remastered to look forward to, while Nioh fans finally get the third game in the series.
Dragon Quest VII Reimagined

Dragon Quest fans are still eagerly awaiting an update on Dragon Quest XII, especially since it’s been nearly a decade since Dragon Quest XI first launched in Japan in 2017. Until then, though, Square Enix continues to deliver remasters and remakes of the franchise, with the next one being Dragon Quest VII Reimagined. This version of the game is more than just a fresh coat of visual paint. The team is going through the entire experience and streamlining the main story so it’s more accessible to players. The battle system is also getting major changes, including new vocational perks, battle speed adjustments, and even an auto-battle feature. A demo has been available since early January, and progress carries over to the full game, so you can essentially get a head start.
Dragon Quest VII Reimagined releases on February 5, 2026 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Switch, Switch 2, and PC.
Nioh 3

The dark samurai action RPG series, Nioh, is welcoming its third entry. To change things up, Nioh 3 features an open field that lets players explore to their heart’s content. Combat, however, is the heart of every Nioh game, and Nioh 3 will offer two combat styles in battle. Players can choose a more direct Samurai Style or a Ninja Style focused on quick movements and special techniques. Swapping between the two is instant and seamless, so we expect Nioh 3’s combat to be the series’ most robust yet.
Nioh 3 releases on February 6, 2026 for PlayStation 5 and PC.
Reanimal

From the original creators of Little Nightmares and Little Nightmares II, Tarsier Studios comes an all-new game called Reanimal. It’s a co-op horror adventure game where players take on the role of a brother and sister who have gone through hell to rescue their missing friends. Together, they’ll adventure through a terrifying world, exploring by boat and on land. They’ll have to use their wits to survive and escape the hellish island. For those who were disappointed in Little Nightmares III since it didn’t come from Tarsier Studios, Reanimal may be worth a look.
Reanimal releases on February 13, 2026 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Switch 2, and PC.
High on Life 2

When the original High on Life released in 2022, it delivered a first-person shooter with talking guns and silly humor. Despite what critics had to say, many enjoyed the game, enough for Squanch Games to make a sequel. High on Life 2 brings back the talking alien guns as an intergalactic conspiracy threatens the fate of humanity. Once again, players will shoot their way through enemies, but this time around, they’ll get a skateboard so they can also kickflip alien cops in the face. If you want an out-of-this-world, single-player adventure, High on Life 2 is calling you.
High on Life 2 releases on February 13, 2026 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.
Yakuza Kiwami 3 & Dark Ties

The Yakuza franchise continues to remake its originals, with Yakuza Kiwami 3 next on the list as a remake of Yakuza 3. However, the game is accompanied by a brand new title called Dark Ties, starring Yoshitaka Mine from Yakuza 3. Dark Ties is a separate experience featuring boxing-based combat as players learn more about Yoshitaka Mine’s involvement with the yakuza. As for Yakuza Kiwami 3, it continues the story of former yakuza Kazuma Kiryu as he protects his loved ones the way he knows how, by fighting. Along with enhanced visuals of Okinawa and Tokyo, Yakuza Kiwami 3 also adds some new scenes to the story, along with side experiences to immerse you in the world some more.
Yakuza Kiwami 3 & Dark Ties release on February 12, 2026 for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Switch 2, and PC.
Mario Tennis Fever

Ever since the Switch 2’s launch in June 2025, the new console has been regularly getting exclusives that take advantage of the better hardware. Personally, I’m still amazed at times that we’re playing Nintendo first-party games in 4K, and I can’t wait to see what Nintendo has cooking for the next Legend of Zelda game. Until then, though, we’ll have to settle for Mario Tennis Fever, which is the next Switch 2 exclusive starring Mario and friends. This entry introduces Fever Rackets that deliver Fever Shots featuring a variety of effects. Mario Tennis Fever also borrows elements from Super Mario Bros. Wonder, including live commentary from the Talking Flower. The game is also teasing an Adventure mode where the main Mario cast turns into babies, forcing them to re-learn their tennis skills.
Mario Tennis Fever releases on February 12, 2026 for Switch 2.
Mewgenics

At long last, Mewgenics is finally getting released. The game originally began as a Team Meat project following Super Meat Boy and was first announced in October 2012. At the time, it was an odd cat-focused game that had elements of breeding, life sim, and turn-based combat. From there, development came to a stop in 2014, and in 2016, Mewgenics was canceled. In 2018, Edmund McMillen acquired the project and rebooted development with Tyler Glaiel, transforming it into the turn-based cat tactics and breeding roguelite it is today. The game claims to have a 200-plus hour main campaign, over 10 character classes with 75 unique abilities each, over 900 wild items, and over 200 enemies and bosses. We’re really excited to see how Mewgenics turned out after all these years, and it won’t be much longer before we get our hands on it.
Mewgenics releases on February 10, 2026 for PC.
Avowed (PlayStation 5)

Last year’s Avowed from Obsidian Entertainment is making its way to PlayStation 5 a year after its launch. It’s yet another first-party Xbox Game Studios title going cross-platform, which is now the norm as Xbox focuses less on exclusivity and more on its platform. Avowed is a first-person fantasy RPG that’s set in Eora, the same world as the Pillars of Eternity universe. Players explore the Living Lands, an island where the air continuously buzzes with ancient magic. The game has benefited from a year of updates and should find a good home with PlayStation gamers.
Avowed releases on February 17, 2026 for PlayStation 5.
Resident Evil Requiem

Arguably the biggest new release of February 2026, Resident Evil Requiem is set to deliver a new era of survival horror with the ninth mainline entry in the franchise. The game stars two protagonists, FBI analyst Grace Ashcroft and returning legendary agent Leon S. Kennedy. Capcom has been clear that the two co-protagonists will have their own unique gameplay styles to deliver a fresh and emotional experience, mixing tense, suspenseful horror action with brutal combat. Resident Evil Requiem will allow players to swap between first- and third-person views whenever they want while returning once again to Raccoon City.
Resident Evil Requiem releases on February 27, 2026 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Switch 2, and PC.
Tales of Berseria Remastered

Many Tales of fans were a little confused when Tales of Berseria Remastered was announced, but the original is nearly 10 years old now. There’s also the idea that it’s one of the more beloved entries in recent years, and a remaster could bring new players to the franchise. Regardless of the reasoning, Tales of Berseria Remastered returns with better visuals and numerous quality-of-life enhancements, just like other Tales of Remastered projects. This version of the game also includes DLC from the original, like numerous outfits and useful equipment. For those who never played Tales of Berseria, I do highly recommend it. It’s one of my personal favorite modern Tales of games, and I enjoyed it more than Tales of Arise.
Tales of Berseria Remastered releases on February 27, 2026 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Switch 2, and PC.
