PlayStation Store’s September 2026 Top Downloads
Marvel’s Wolverine led the PlayStation 5 chart in the U.S. for September while EA Sports FC 27 took the EU, with Halloween close behind.
Marvel’s Wolverine led the PlayStation 5 chart in the U.S. and Canada on September’s download charts after launching on September 15, while EA Sports FC 27 arrived on September 25 and (unsurprisingly) still took #1 in the EU and #2 in the U.S. In my review, I called Marvel’s Wolverine a solid romp that plays it extremely safe, and I said I’d still recommend it to most gamers, just not at its full $69.99 price. The rest of the top five in the U.S. went to NBA 2K27, Halloween, and The Blood of Dawnwalker, while Madden NFL 27, which led the U.S. chart in August, slid to #6.
Halloween, IllFonic and Gun Interactive’s asymmetrical multiplayer take on the slasher franchise, launched on September 8 and placed #4 in both regions, while The Blood of Dawnwalker, the debut game from Rebel Wolves that released on September 3, came in at #5 in the U.S. and #3 in the EU. Onimusha: Way of the Sword, which moved up three weeks to September 4 and sold over one million copies on its first day, placed #7 in both regions. Control Resonant launched on September 24 and finished at #8 in the U.S. and #10 in the EU, and as I said in my review, it’s the one to play if big single-player games have started to feel like they follow the same template, even if it isn’t a game for everybody.
September also brought Valheim’s 1.0 update and its first release on PlayStation 5 on September 9, which was good for #13 in the U.S. and #12 in the EU, and Silent Hill: Townfall arrived on September 24 at #15 in the U.S. and #14 in the EU. Minecraft Dungeons II launched on September 29 and still made #16 in both regions, while The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt showed up at #13 in the EU after its free remastered upgrade went live the same day. Call of Duty: Black Ops II, which topped both charts in July and held #1 in the EU through August, fell to #11 in both regions.
Red Dead Redemption 2 returned to #1 on PlayStation 4 in the U.S. and Canada after Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon Wildlands took the top spot in August, while EA Sports FC 27 led the EU chart with Red Dead Redemption 2 at #2. Call of Duty: Black Ops III placed #2 in the U.S., and Batman: Arkham Knight moved up from #4 to #3 in both regions. Assassin’s Creed Odyssey, which led the EU chart in August, dropped out of the top 20 entirely.
I Am Cat took #1 on PlayStation VR2 in both regions, reclaiming the U.S. spot it lost to Synapse in August, and Synapse dropped out of the top 10 on both sides. Horizon Call of the Mountain, which didn’t chart at all in August, came back at #2 in the U.S. and #4 in the EU, while Beat Saber sits at #3 in the U.S. and #2 in the EU after ending official support for the platform. On the free-to-play side, Call of Duty: Warzone jumped from #7 in August to #1 in the U.S., and Aniimo, which launched on September 16 and which I spent 30-plus hours with ahead of launch, debuted at #1 in the EU and #4 in the U.S. Fortnite, which led both regions in August, slipped to #3 in the U.S. and #2 in the EU.
