Rebel Wolves has confirmed that The Blood of Dawnwalker will launch with a Performance Mode targeting 60 FPS on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 5 Pro, and XBOX Series X, delivered through the game’s day one patch. The studio announced the news on X today, just three days after its console performance rundown had fans worried the option wouldn’t be there at launch.
On Friday, the studio answered questions about console performance with a rundown that covered only two modes, Quality targeting 30 FPS and Balanced targeting 40 FPS. Fans noticed. According to Rebel Wolves, Performance Mode was already in the works but was still being tested, and the team simply wasn’t ready to promise it yet. “We heard your feedback,” the studio wrote. “It was clear how much this mattered to many of you, so we focused on finishing the next round of tests.” Those tests gave the studio the confidence to confirm the mode for day one.
Once the launch patch is installed, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 5 Pro, and XBOX Series X will all offer the same three modes: Performance targeting 60 FPS, Balanced targeting 40 FPS, and Quality targeting 30 FPS. The PlayStation 5 Pro version also provides overall visual enhancements on top of those shared targets. XBOX Series S is the exception, though, targeting 30 FPS with no additional modes.
The Blood of Dawnwalker launches September 3, 2026 for PlayStation 5, XBOX Series X|S, and PC. It’s the debut game from Rebel Wolves, the studio co-founded by The Witcher 3 director Konrad Tomaszkiewicz, and it casts players as Coen, a young man who is human by day and vampire by night in 14th century Europe. It arrives at the front of a packed September that also includes Marvel’s Wolverine, Silent Hill: Townfall, and Fire Emblem: Fortune’s Weave.
