Minecraft Dungeons II got a gameplay reveal and a release date at the XBOX Games Showcase, with the dungeon-crawling sequel set to arrive September 29 for $29.99. Developed by Mojang Studios and Double Eleven, it follows up the original Minecraft Dungeons after the game was first announced for a 2026 launch earlier this year. The reveal centers on a new threat to the Overworld and the heroes who will have to push it back.
The setup has disorder spreading across the Overworld’s biomes, with restless mobs, mysterious events, and a new evil threatening chaos, leaving the world in need of heroes. Like the first game, Minecraft Dungeons II is an action RPG dungeon-crawler where players drop the pickaxe for a sword and fight through hordes of mobs in explosive encounters across unexplored lands. Loot remains central, letting players build their hero with weapons, armor, artifacts, talismans, and other legendary gear picked up along the way.
Players can take on the campaign solo or team up with as many as four total in online or couch co-op, tackling the tougher challenges together. Anyone who preorders gets a set of bonuses, including two hero skins, the Twisted cape, and the Twisted chicken pet. The preorder offer runs at participating retailers from June 6 through September 28, with a limit of one per person.
Minecraft Dungeons II launches September 29 for $29.99 on PlayStation 5, XBOX Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC through Steam and XBOX on PC. On XBOX, it is an XBOX Play Anywhere title and will be available with XBOX Game Pass.
