The PlayStation 5 charts in May were all about new arrivals, and 007 First Light wasted no time taking over. The spy game topped both the U.S. and Canada and EU charts despite only launching on May 27, which means it beat out a full month of competition with barely five days on the board. LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight, which arrived earlier in the month, landed right behind it at #2 in both regions. Saros climbed into the U.S. top ten at #9 after a partial-month showing in April, and Crimson Desert held its ground in the back half of both charts. Pragmata was the big mover in the other direction, tumbling from its #2 finish in the U.S. last month all the way down to #18.

Over on PlayStation 4, the usual catalog staples kept their grip, with Star Wars Battlefront II edging out Red Dead Redemption 2 for the top spot in the U.S. and Canada while the two swapped places in the EU. The bigger story is the Devil May Cry surge, as Devil May Cry HD Collection charted at #3 in both regions with Devil May Cry 4 close behind, and Devil May Cry 5 Special Edition even sneaking onto the PlayStation 5 EU chart at #20. The timing lines up with Devil May Cry: Season 2 hitting Netflix on May 12, though a well-placed sale could just as easily explain it. The rest of the PlayStation 4 charts looked familiar, with older co-op and multiplayer mainstays like Gang Beasts, Batman: Arkham Knight, A Way Out, and Minecraft rounding things out.

PlayStation VR2 had its own newcomer story, as I Am Cat debuted at #1 in both regions and knocked last month’s leader, Star Wars: Tales from the Galaxy’s Edge – Enhanced Edition, down the list. Beat Saber continued its slow slide to #4 in the U.S. and Canada and #6 in the EU, still feeling the effects of Beat Games stepping away from the platform. On the free-to-play side, Fortnite reclaimed #1 in both regions after Roblox led the charts in April, while NTE: Neverness to Everness kept climbing, jumping to #3 in the U.S. and #2 in the EU after debuting at #5 last month.
