XBOX has detailed the Game Pass September 2026 Wave 2 lineup, with 14 main additions stretching from September 15 through October 6. Four of those are day one releases, including Kernel Hearts, Well Dweller, Minecraft Dungeons II, and Gears of War: E-Day, while several existing games are making their way to XBOX Game Pass Premium. There’s also a separate addition for XBOX Game Pass Essential subscribers later this month.
RuneScape: Dragonwilds is technically the first game in Wave 2, although we already covered its September 15 arrival in the first wave. It’s available today on Cloud, XBOX Series X|S, and PC for XBOX Game Pass Ultimate, XBOX Game Pass Premium, and PC Game Pass subscribers. In my first impressions, I found a bare-bones crafting survival game with a solid foundation, heavy Valheim influences, and probably the smoothest combat we’ve tried in the genre.
September 16 is easily the busiest day of the wave, with four games moving into XBOX Game Pass Premium while remaining available to Ultimate and PC Game Pass subscribers. Marvel Cosmic Invasion brings its 15 playable Marvel heroes to Cloud, XBOX Series X|S, Handheld, and PC, while Planet of Lana II offers another sci-fi puzzle adventure starring Lana and Mui. Routine is a first-person sci-fi horror game set on an abandoned lunar base inspired by an ’80s vision of the future, and Ultimate Sheep Raccoon is a bike-racing party game where players build courses together before filling them with obstacles and traps.

September 17 brings the first day one release of Wave 2 with Kernel Hearts on Cloud, XBOX Series X|S, and PC for XBOX Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass subscribers. The action RPG blends roguelike elements with optional multiplayer co-op, offering four magical characters with different abilities as they climb the Tower of Babel. Ninja Gaiden 4 also joins XBOX Game Pass Premium that day on Cloud, XBOX Series X|S, Handheld, and PC, bringing its hack-and-slash combat to another tier of subscribers.
After a few days off, September 22 adds Dune: Awakening and day one release Well Dweller. Dune: Awakening heads to Cloud, XBOX Series X|S, Handheld, and PC for XBOX Game Pass Ultimate, XBOX Game Pass Premium, and PC Game Pass subscribers. In my review, I called it by far the best game ever created based on Frank Herbert’s universe, combining crafting survival mechanics with an alternate take on Arrakis where Paul Atreides was never born. Well Dweller arrives the same day for Ultimate and PC Game Pass, a dark fairy-tale Metroidvania starring a tiny bird named Glimmer who fights with a matchstick.
Mad King Redemption follows on September 23 for Cloud, XBOX Series X|S, Handheld, and PC across XBOX Game Pass Ultimate, XBOX Game Pass Premium, and PC Game Pass. The pixel-art game combines traditional beat ’em up combat with roguelite progression in a 2.5D world, tasking players with freeing the Mad King from his insanity and fighting corrupted enemies across runs that change each time.

September 25 adds Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 to XBOX Game Pass Premium on Cloud, Console, Handheld, and PC, joining Ultimate and PC Game Pass. Treyarch and Raven Software’s 2024 entry includes its single-player campaign, multiplayer, and Round-Based Zombies. XBOX Game Pass Essential subscribers also get Rematch that day on Cloud, XBOX Series X|S, and PC, the third-person 5v5 soccer game where each player controls a single athlete and there are no offsides or fouls.
One of the month’s day one releases arrives September 29 with Minecraft Dungeons II on Cloud, Console, Handheld, and PC for XBOX Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass subscribers. The sequel sends up to four players through the Overworld and into the Sift, a new dimension reached through mysterious rifts, with new threats and more ways to customize gear. When it was announced, I noted that the original Minecraft Dungeons was a simpler, more accessible take on the Diablo-style formula, which made it a good co-op option for families and younger players while leaving plenty of room for the sequel to add more depth.
The lineup heads into October with Keeper on October 2 for Cloud, XBOX Series X|S, and PC, now with XBOX Game Pass Premium alongside Ultimate and PC Game Pass. Double Fine’s adventure tells its story without words, following a long-forgotten lighthouse that awakens and sets out with a seabird on an unexpected journey.

Closing out Wave 2 on October 6 is Gears of War: E-Day, available day one on XBOX Series X|S, Handheld, PC, and Cloud for XBOX Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass subscribers. Set 14 years before the original Gears of War, E-Day follows younger versions of Marcus Fenix and Dominic Santiago as the Locust Horde first emerges from below. The game is also an XBOX console exclusive, with no PlayStation version planned.
There are a few other Game Pass extras arriving over the next couple of weeks. Moonlighter 2: The Endless Vault is now available on XBOX Series X|S and Cloud Gaming following its 1.0 release, while EA Play members get an early access trial for EA Sports FC 27 on September 18. Sea of Thieves Season 21 starts September 17 alongside a free play weekend running through September 21, and Brawlhalla gets a new benefits pack containing the Kill Thrill Hattori Skin, Hattori Legend Unlock, and Regal Sun Sword Weapon Skin.
Eight games are leaving the XBOX Game Pass library on September 30:

- Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light (Cloud, Console, and PC)
- Little Nightmares 2 Enhanced Edition (Cloud, Console, and PC)
