XBOX has detailed the Game Pass September 2026 Wave 1 lineup, and after an August back half headlined by Resonance: A Plague Tale Legacy’s day one launch, the new month opens with seven additions through September 15, led by Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War and RuneScape: Dragonwilds. One day one release is in the mix, along with a Game Preview graduation, an EA Play trial, and a fresh in-game perk.

Available today, September 1, is Shelldiver on Cloud, Console, and PC for Game Pass Ultimate, Game Pass Premium, and PC Game Pass subscribers. This one was already covered at the tail end of the August Wave 2 lineup, and it’s an incremental game about a senior turtle fishing for jellyfish and selling them at their little shop, upgrading equipment along the way and helping out the local turtle population across various biomes and oceanic depths.

SpeedRunners 2: King of Speed lands September 3 as the wave’s lone day one release, on Cloud, XBOX Series X|S, and PC for Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass subscribers. The sequel to the competitive co-op platformer runs cutthroat online and local races with up to eight players online, complete with grappling hooks, powerful pick-ups, and meticulously designed maps to master.

The next day, September 4, Dice a Million expands to XBOX Series X|S and Cloud, now with Game Pass Premium and joining Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass. The roguelike deck builder is about trying to roll one million on a set of dice, built around assembling the right bag of dice and decking your hand out in powerful rings. On the EA Play side, a 10-hour early access trial of EA Sports NHL 27 hits consoles the same day, featuring the all-new Connected Franchise mode and an overhauled broadcast package, with progress carrying over to the full game if you decide to buy.

Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War arrives September 8 on Cloud, Console, and PC for Game Pass Ultimate, Game Pass Premium, and PC Game Pass subscribers, bringing Raven Software’s campaign of historical figures and hard truths through iconic locales like East Berlin, Vietnam, Turkey, and Soviet KGB headquarters.

September 10 delivers a double feature. The Royal Writ hits Cloud, XBOX Series X|S, Handheld, and PC for Game Pass Ultimate, Game Pass Premium, and PC Game Pass, a medieval roguelike deck builder where cards march to glory or permanent death and each fallen hero joins your kingdom’s legend. Joining it is Virtua Fighter 5 R.E.V.O. World Stage on Cloud, XBOX Series X|S, and PC for the same three tiers, adding the all-new World Stage single-player journey plus cross-play and rollback netcode support.

RuneScape: Dragonwilds | Image: Jagex

RuneScape: Dragonwilds rounds out the additions on September 15 on Cloud, XBOX Series X|S, and PC for Game Pass Ultimate, Game Pass Premium, and PC Game Pass subscribers. Set on RuneScape’s forgotten continent of Ashenfall, the co-op survival adventure builds toward a showdown with the ferocious Dragon Queen, and in my first impressions, I found a bare-bones crafting survival game with a solid foundation, heavy Valheim influences, and probably the smoothest combat we’ve tried in the genre. The same day, TCG Card Shop Simulator leaves Game Preview and launches in 1.0 on Cloud, XBOX Series X|S, Handheld, and PC, complete with Tetramon deck building, tournaments, and the daily grind of running the best card shop around.

On the perks side, Aniimo arrives September 16 on Cloud, XBOX Series X|S, and PC, with subscribers across Game Pass Ultimate, Game Pass Premium, Game Pass Essential, and PC Game Pass able to unlock an exclusive monthly reward pack containing one Aniipod Ultra, 15 Growth Flowers, and 300 Glimmer.

As for what’s on the way out, ten titles are leaving the Game Pass library on September 15: Commandos: Origins, Cricket 24, Cyberpunk 2077 (Cloud and Console), Dead Cells, Deep Rock Galactic: Survivor, Frostpunk 2 (PC), Mullet Madjack, Spiritfarer, Superliminal, and Train Sim World 5. Members can save on these before they go. And if you’re also on PlayStation, the PlayStation Plus Monthly Games for September are live as well.
