Netflix has dropped the first official trailer for Devil May Cry: Season 2, and the show’s second season now has a premiere date of May 12. The animated series from Capcom, Netflix, and Studio Mir is once again being led by Adi Shankar, who’s been behind some of Netflix’s best video game adaptations to date, including Castlevania.

Season 2 looks to shift the focus toward the relationship between Dante and his estranged twin brother Vergil. Netflix is leaning hard into the “Team Dante vs. Team Vergil” framing in its marketing, and the trailer teases a war between the human and demon realms as the two brothers finally come face to face. Johnny Yong Bosch returns as Dante, with Robbie Daymond reprising his role as Vergil.

The first season debuted on April 3, 2025, and was a genuine hit for Netflix. It was renewed for a second season just one week after its premiere and has since been credited with contributing to a major sales boost for the Devil May Cry games. Devil May Cry 5 has now sold over 10 million units, with Capcom itself calling out the Netflix series as a driving factor. For a franchise that’s been around since 2001, that kind of late-stage resurgence is pretty rare, and it’s a strong argument for why more game adaptations should actually try to honor their source material rather than reinventing it. Cough cough Halo. Now where’s Devil May Cry 6? Considering the streak Capcom has been on with Resident Evil Requiem, Monster Hunter Stories 3: Twisted Reflection, and now Pragmata, we can’t wait to see what’s cooking for Devil May Cry 6.

Season 1 is available on Netflix now for anyone who needs to catch up before May 12.
