One of our most anticipated games of 2026, Control Resonant, is out today on PlayStation 5, XBOX Series X|S, and PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store, with GeForce NOW support at launch and a Mac version for Steam and the App Store due later this year. Physical editions for PlayStation 5 and XBOX Series X|S follow on October 15 after Remedy pushed them back three weeks in August, and as I said at the time, at least the game is getting a physical release at all, which is becoming less of a given these days.

Dylan Faden, Jesse’s younger brother and the face of the enemy in the original Control, is the playable lead this time, and the sequel puts him in a Manhattan warped by paranatural forces after years spent in confinement at the Federal Bureau of Control. Combat is built around the Aberrant, a shapeshifting melee weapon with multiple forms, and Remedy has swapped traditional difficulty levels for Assist Mode sliders that tune individual mechanics rather than the whole game. Creative director Mikael Kasurinen said the game is the result of nearly seven years of work, and that new players don’t need to have played the first game to jump in. Remedy is publishing Control Resonant itself, with Annapurna Pictures co-financing and co-producing as part of the two companies’ partnership, and the original Control passed six million copies sold earlier this year.

Remedy also has a new song from Apocalyptica in the game, with the Finnish cello-metal band contributing “Upperhand” for the opening credits, and it’s out now on Spotify, Apple Music, and other streaming platforms. Founder Eicca Toppinen said the track started as intro music for the opening sequence before being expanded into a full song, with Katrine from Kalandra on vocals. It follows Zoe’s Mixtape, the six-song compilation Remedy released earlier this week. On the merchandise side, iam8bit is teaming up with Remedy again for a Control Resonant collection that includes Corrupted Metro apparel, a Billboard Bumper Stickers Pack, an Atlantis Café Espresso Cup Set, three Federal Bureau of Control propaganda posters printed as 1:1 recreations of their in-game versions, and an FBC Magnet Set. Preorders run through October 26, with shipping expected in the first quarter of 2027.

Pricing starts at $59.99 for the digital Standard Edition on all platforms, while the $69.99 Digital Deluxe Edition adds the AWE Mission Outfit for Dylan, an exclusive Untapped Artifact wallet, a Starter Resource Bundle, a digital artbook, and the original soundtrack. The physical Standard Edition for PlayStation 5 and XBOX Series X|S is also $59.99 when it arrives on October 15. A $69.99 SteelBook Edition releases the same day with a SteelBook case, three fine art prints, and a key art poster.
