Control Resonant has gone gold ahead of its September 24 launch, though the announcement arrives with a catch for anyone planning to buy the game on disc. In a short update shared on social media, Remedy confirmed the physical release is slipping to October 15, saying the team needs more time to deliver the physical version to players. The digital release date isn’t moving.
The sequel to 2019’s Control puts players in the role of Dylan Faden, Jesse Faden’s younger brother, as he works through a warped Manhattan on the brink of paranatural annihilation after years spent in confinement at the Federal Bureau of Control. It’s been one of our most anticipated games of 2026 since its reveal, and the September 24 date has held firm since it was locked in at June’s State of Play.
The physical delay is really unfortunate, especially with the game itself just five weeks out. That said, physical media has taken hit after hit this year, including Sony ending disc production for new games, so a three-week wait stings a lot less than the alternative. At least Control Resonant is getting a physical release at all, which is becoming less of a given these days.
Control Resonant launches digitally on September 24 for PlayStation 5, XBOX Series X|S, PC, and Mac, with physical copies following on October 15. As Remedy puts it, nothing stays contained forever.
