The upcoming open-world action-adventure game from Pearl Abyss, Crimson Desert, likely won’t see any delays now that it has gone gold. While there have been games in the past that have gone gold and still delayed their release dates, it’s extremely rare. Set to launch on March 19, Crimson Desert is heading to PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC as an ambitious title set in the world of Pywel. It comes from the same developers behind Black Desert, an online action MMORPG that became popular for its unique take on combat in 2017.

Crimson Desert, though, is a single-player adventure that focuses on Kliff, who has lost his Greymane comrades in a deadly ambush. Determined to reunite with the survivors of the attack, Kliff sets off to rebuild the fallen Greymanes and reclaim what has been lost. Of course, those ambitions grow, as they often do in video games, and Kliff will find an unprecedented threat awaits him, along with a destiny greater than he could imagine.

From what we’ve seen, it looks like a very ambitious title, with a giant world and multiple systems. It might even look like it’s trying to do too much, but if it pulls it off and provides a fun experience, Crimson Desert could be one of the biggest games of the year.

March was already a crowded month, with World of Warcraft: Midnight on March 2, Pokémon Pokopia on March 5, and Monster Hunter Stories 3: Twisted Reflection on March 13. That was all before the recent announcements of Marathon on March 5 and Life Is Strange: Reunion on March 26. Hopefully we can find time to fit in Crimson Desert, because it definitely looks interesting.
