Last year, five of our 20 picks for most anticipated games of 2025 were delayed out of 2025. While some of them now have confirmed 2026 release dates, such as Grand Theft Auto VI, others have remained a mystery, like Judas and Fable. As a result, we tried to keep as many of those games off our 2026 list as possible. If they do manage to release next year, then we’ll consider it a surprise. But that’s why titles such as Fable, Subnautica 2, and Judas are missing from our list, since we’re not entirely sure they’ll make it to 2026.
When looking at the currently announced games for 2026, it’s definitely shaping up to be a weaker year than 2025. At the same time last year, there was already confirmation of some highly anticipated sequels, such as Death Stranding 2: On the Beach, Ghost of Yōtei, DOOM: The Dark Ages, and Borderlands 4. While it was a little more difficult to come up with 20 games for 2026, we’re looking forward to all the indie surprises that are likely in development. This year, we saw some great debuts that we weren’t expecting, including Megabonk, Ball x Pit, and Blue Prince, while a game like Monster Train 2 seemingly came out of nowhere. The current slate might not be as impressive as 2025’s, but we fully expect there to be some big surprises.
20. Arknights: Endfield

We can’t help but look forward to at least one gacha game each year. For 2026, it came down to Arknights: Endfield and The Seven Deadly Sins: Origin, with Arknights: Endfield winning out because, well, we’ve played enough Netmarble games to know which direction The Seven Deadly Sins: Origin will ultimately head. We enjoyed the original Arknights and everything we’ve seen about Arknights: Endfield has us excited. Considering how much we enjoy games like Satisfactory and Factorio, we’re really curious to see how it’ll manage to incorporate aspects of automation and factory building.
Arknights: Endfield launches on January 22, 2026 for PlayStation 5, Android, iOS, and PC.
19. Crimson Desert

When I first heard about Crimson Desert, I just assumed Pearl Abyss was making a successor to its MMORPG, Black Desert Online. I was a bit shocked when I found out Crimson Desert is actually a single-player action-adventure game where players set off on a journey as Greymane Kliff. I personally enjoyed the combat in Black Desert, so I’m very interested to see how Crimson Desert is going to play out with the developer focusing on a single-player experience. Visually, the game looks impressive, but it’s all going to come down to the gameplay when you’re trying to make an open-world RPG.
Crimson Desert launches on March 19, 2026 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Mac, and PC.
18. The Adventures of Elliot: The Millennium Tales

Earlier this year, Square Enix revealed a surprise with yet another amazing name: The Adventures of Elliot: The Millennium Tales. Along with its introduction came a demo, showing off the upcoming action-adventure RPG from Team Asano, the developer behind the Bravely Default and Octopath Traveler series. As you can tell, visually it’s an HD-2D game, and the gameplay reminded me a bit of a 2D The Legend of Zelda title. The demo was impressive, though, and I was taken aback by how interesting it all was. I also appreciate that Team Asano is actively looking for feedback to improve the game, something it’s done in the past to great results.
The Adventures of Elliot: The Millennium Tales currently has no release date but is heading to PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Switch 2, and PC.
17. Dragon Quest VII Reimagined

Another Square Enix surprise, Dragon Quest VII Reimagined, made its debut in September 2025 with a confirmed February 2026 release date. While many of us would still prefer to see a new entry in the franchise, it’s great to see some of the best classic RPGs getting remade for a new generation. Dragon Quest VII Reimagined features a lovely 3D art style, injecting a lot of personality into the game’s characters. The team also promises refined gameplay and tightened pacing for the story. It’s been so long since the game’s original North American release in 2001 that it’ll feel like a whole new adventure when I sit down with it early next year.
Dragon Quest VII Reimagined launches on February 5, 2026 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Switch, Switch 2, and PC.
16. Halo: Campaign Evolved

Well, if we aren’t going to get a good new Halo game, I’ll more than settle for a proper remake of the original Halo: Combat Evolved. According to Xbox, Halo: Campaign Evolved is going to be just that, a faithful yet modernized remake of the original’s campaign, rebuilt from the ground up. It’ll feature HD visuals, refined controls, up to four-player online co-op, three new missions, and an expanded arsenal of weapons, vehicles, and new enemies. I grew up loving the original Halo and its sequels, so I’m looking forward to reliving my childhood with friends in Halo: Campaign Evolved.
Halo: Campaign Evolved currently has no release date but is heading to PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.
15. Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis

Lara Croft is one of the most iconic characters in video game history, and she’s finally making a return after nearly a decade of silence. There are actually two Tomb Raider games currently in development, but the first one we’re getting is Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis. It’s a remake of the 1996 adventure, built in Unreal Engine 5, with modern gameplay and new surprises. It looks similar to the Final Fantasy VII Remake treatment, with gorgeous visuals and game design that’s more fitting for this generation.
Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis currently has no release date but is heading to PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.
14. LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight

LEGO games are a guilty pleasure for me whenever I want something that isn’t too deep or too serious. You know, a video game that’s actually just fun to play. LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight is particularly interesting to me because of what we’ve seen from its combat so far, which reminds me of the Batman: Arkham games from Rocksteady Studios. The LEGO Batman Movie really showed just how fun the Caped Crusader can be in LEGO form, and I think this game is going to nail it in tone, humor, and gameplay.
LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight launches on May 29, 2026 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Switch 2, and PC.
13. Pragmata

Pragmata has been an interesting one to follow. After getting announced in 2020 with a 2022 launch window, Capcom went pretty quiet with the game. It resurfaced in June 2025 with a promise of a 2026 launch, and this time it’s delivering. I wasn’t too sure about the gameplay from the trailers, but after checking out the recent demo, I’m sold. Pragmata blends puzzle-solving with action gameplay, where players have to control both Hugh and Diana at the same time. I’m also interested to see where the story goes between these two mysterious characters.
Pragmata launches on April 24, 2026 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Switch 2, and PC.
12. Yoshi and the Mysterious Book

As one of the biggest Yoshi fans in the world, I don’t even care that Yoshi games are generally designed for a younger audience. They’re always cute and relaxing to play, and sometimes that’s all I need. Yoshi and the Mysterious Book is the next adventure for the adorable dinosaur, where a talking book named Mr. E falls from the sky and lands on the island where Yoshi and his friends live. Yoshi, curious as ever, jumps into the book and sets off on a journey to make all sorts of discoveries about the unusual creatures living inside it. I’m really digging the art style in this one and can’t wait to see how it looks on the Switch 2.
Yoshi and the Mysterious Book currently has no release date but is slated for spring 2026 on Switch 2.
11. 007 First Light

Confession time. Most of us here at FullCleared have never spent significant time with Hitman games, but we’re definitely interested in seeing what IO Interactive is cooking up for 007 First Light. It’s been a while since we’ve gotten a real 007 game, and even longer since it was a good one. From what we’ve seen of 007 First Light, it looks like it’ll at least deliver a solid gameplay experience that lives up to James Bond’s style. It’s definitely a choice to cast Lenny Kravitz as the game’s villain, but we won’t be so quick to judge since Kravitz does have the personality to pull it off. Admittedly, some of the gameplay looks pretty generic for the genre, but the full Bond mix could still come together into a complete package.
007 First Light launches on May 27, 2026 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Switch 2, and PC.
10. Forza Horizon 6

As someone who grew up loving Japanese car culture and spent much of my early career working in it, I couldn’t be more excited that the Forza Horizon series is finally heading to Japan. Honestly, I’m shocked it took the sixth entry in the series to go to Japan, considering how much the country has influenced car culture worldwide. Better late than never, though, as they say. Unfortunately, we haven’t seen very much about the game aside from a teaser trailer confirming the location, but Playground Games has continually put out banger after banger with Forza Horizon, so we have no reason to doubt Forza Horizon 6 will be amazing.
Forza Horizon 6 currently has no release date but is heading to Xbox Series X|S and PC at launch, with a PlayStation 5 release planned for the future.
9. Pokémon Pokopia

As I said when Pokémon Pokopia first debuted, I can’t believe it’s taken this long for a cozy Pokémon game to release. We’ve seen all sorts of themed entries within the genre over the years, and while it’s easy to think Pokémon Pokopia is Pokémon dropped into Animal Crossing: New Horizons, the game will actually be more similar to Dragon Quest Builders 2 since it’s coming from the same team at Omega Force. As a casual fan of Pokémon who was a bit disappointed with Pokémon Legends: Z-A, I’m really hoping Pokémon Pokopia gives us the freedom to build however we want because nothing would be better than a game that’s like living in episodes of Pokémon Concierge.
Pokémon Pokopia launches on March 5, 2026 for Switch 2.
8. Resident Evil Requiem

A new Resident Evil game is always a good time, and Capcom has just been on a roll lately. With confirmation that Leon S. Kennedy is making a return in Resident Evil Requiem, several of us at FullCleared can’t wait for the game’s release. He’ll serve as a contrast to Grace Ashcroft, bringing more action-oriented gameplay to the player while Grace focuses on survival horror. Together, they might just manage to uncover the hidden truth behind the 1998 Raccoon City incident. Believe it or not, Resident Evil Village was a 2021 title, so it’s been a hot minute since we’ve gotten a brand new Resident Evil game.
Resident Evil Requiem launches on February 27, 2026 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Switch 2, and PC.
7. Star Wars Zero Company

If someone told us Star Wars Zero Company was merely XCOM reskinned with Star Wars assets, we’d already be pretty excited. Instead, we’re getting an all-new turn-based tactics game set in the twilight of the Clone Wars. It’s in development by Bit Reactor in collaboration with Respawn Entertainment and Lucasfilm Games, and players will take on the role of Hawks, a former Republic officer who leads Zero Company. While this will be Bit Reactor’s debut title, the studio consists of veterans from XCOM, Civilization, Gears of War, and The Elder Scrolls Online. We should probably be more concerned that publisher Electronic Arts is undergoing a questionable acquisition that could put this game in jeopardy, but hopefully, it’ll see the light of day.
Star Wars Zero Company currently has no release date but is heading to PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.
6. Grand Theft Auto VI

Will Grand Theft Auto VI actually release in 2026? After its numerous delays, we’re hoping so, especially with a date set so late in the year. Obviously, this is one of the titles on our list last year that didn’t manage to release, but it’s moved up a few spots from number 12 in 2025. Part of this is because last year had many more titles we were interested in playing, and part of it is because we’re a little more excited now with the longer wait. But as we said last year, we’re not huge fans of the Grand Theft Auto series and never found the appeal, even after trying Grand Theft Auto V together. But we know it’s a phenomenon, and we’ll be jumping into this entry to see if it can not only convince us to enjoy it, but also live up to the hype.
Grand Theft Auto VI launches on November 19, 2026 for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.
5. Saros

I really enjoyed Returnal, so I can’t wait to get my hands on Saros. The recent gameplay trailer had me sold and quickly catapulted the game toward the top of our most anticipated games of 2026 list. The fast-paced combat, mixed with an interesting take on parrying, looks extremely fun to play. It’s always exciting to see a team build on the foundation of a successful game, in this case Returnal, and if it manages to add a compelling story to go with its wild environments, Saros has the makings of another Sony first-party classic.
Saros launches on April 30, 2026 for PlayStation 5.
4. Slay the Spire 2

Slay the Spire 2 not launching in 2025 might have been our biggest gaming disappointment. Like Grand Theft Auto VI, it moves up a few spots compared to last year, especially because we’ve seen more from the game and it’s looking like everything we want to see in a sequel. Last year, I was mainly concerned about how Slay the Spire 2 would feel different and fresh, but after seeing what Monster Train 2 managed to do this year, I’m extremely confident that the team at Mega Crit will come through.
Slay the Spire 2 launches into Early Access in March 2026 for PC.
3. Vampire Crawlers: The Turbo Wildcard from Vampire Survivors

This announcement got us all excited since every one of us over here loves Vampire Survivors. This spin-off, officially titled Vampire Crawlers: The Turbo Wildcard from Vampire Survivors, is a dungeon crawler with card-based mechanics, which are all things we love. The game looks to be much more strategic than Vampire Survivors, and the deck-building element will add another way to customize builds every run. Also, given Poncle’s support of Vampire Survivors, we’re confident that this game is going to provide us with hundreds of hours of entertainment for years to come.
Vampire Crawlers: The Turbo Wildcard from Vampire Survivors currently has no release date but is heading to PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Switch, Android, iOS, and PC.
2. Control Resonant

There was no doubt Remedy Entertainment was working on the sequel to Control, but we had no idea when it would arrive. Considering there was a 13-year gap between Alan Wake and Alan Wake 2, it’s fair to think another Control game would take longer than seven years. Fortunately, that’s not the case, and Remedy Entertainment seems confident enough that Control Resonant will arrive in 2026. Making its debut at The Game Awards 2025, the trailer confirms players will take on the role of Dylan Faden, Jesse Faden’s brother from the first game, and he’ll be armed with a shapeshifting melee weapon called the Aberrant. After playing Control, Alan Wake, and Alan Wake 2, you can sign me up for anything Remedy Entertainment has in the works. Well, except for FBC: Firebreak. OK, sign me up for any single-player game Remedy Entertainment has in the works.
Control Resonant currently has no release date but is heading to PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, PC, and Mac.
1. Marvel’s Wolverine

Insomniac Games is one of the best in the business, but several of us were a bit disappointed with how safe and familiar Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 felt. That’s why we’re really looking forward to Marvel’s Wolverine, especially after the game’s debut trailer confirmed it’ll be plenty violent and fitting in terms of tone and atmosphere for the character. We already know what Insomniac is capable of doing with the Spider-Man games and Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart, so wrapping all that talent in a Wolverine costume sounds nothing short of amazing. Based on what we’ve seen, combat is going to feel visceral and brutal, and the world’s going to offer plenty of exploration since we already see Wolverine in a variety of different environments. Top it all off with Liam McIntyre playing the role, and it really does seem like Insomniac isn’t going to miss with this title.
Marvel’s Wolverine currently has no release date but is slated for fall 2026 on PlayStation 5.
