It’s been a long wait for Tomb Raider fans, but hopefully it’ll be worth it. At The Game Awards 2025, Crystal Dynamics and Flying Wild Hog unveiled two Tomb Raider games. The first, Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis, is due in 2026 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. It’s being developed in partnership by Crystal Dynamics and Flying Wild Hog and is a full reimagining of Lara’s debut adventure. That means modern gameplay, visuals, and storytelling, all powered by Unreal Engine 5.

The second game, Tomb Raider: Catalyst, is being developed by Crystal Dynamics and marks a new direction for the series as Lara Croft embarks on a new adventure across Northern India. It’s set in the wake of a mythical cataclysm, which has unleashed ancient secrets and awakened the mysterious forces that guard them. Along with other treasure hunters from around the world, Lara seeks to discover the truth about what’s happening while stopping those looking to use its power for their own benefit.

Tomb Raider: Catalyst is set to launch in 2027 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC, and it will also be powered by Unreal Engine 5. Crystal Dynamics says it’ll be the largest Tomb Raider world yet and that it’s being designed for longtime fans and newcomers. Longtime fans of Tomb Raider will notice that Lara Croft’s new attire is her old attire. The reimagining of her first adventure with Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis is clearly intentional as a way of bringing this Lara to the forefront of the franchise while tying it to the past.
