XBOX is kicking off June’s first XBOX Game Pass wave right as the XBOX Games Showcase and the Gears of War: E-Day Direct get ready to take over this weekend, which makes the timing a little funny. We’re expecting a surprise or two out of the show, so I wouldn’t treat this as the complete June picture just yet, since a couple more additions could easily land once it wraps. Even so, this opening wave has plenty worth a look following last month’s second wave, headlined by Persona 5 Royal on June 9 and a run of day one indies scattered around it. Let’s start at the top.
The wave opens on June 4 with two atmospheric additions. Herdling lands on Cloud, XBOX Series X|S, and PC for XBOX Game Pass Ultimate, Premium, and PC Game Pass subscribers, a serene alpine trek where you guide a herd of lovable beasts up a mountain path, working past eerie dangers and strange obstacles toward whatever waits at the summit. Joining it the same day is Total Chaos on Cloud, XBOX Series X|S, and PC for the same three tiers, a first-person survival horror from the creator of Turbo Overkill that has you scavenging for makeshift weapons as a nightmarish story slowly unfurls.
June 8 brings two more, including the wave’s first day one release. Solarpunk hits Cloud, XBOX Series X|S, and PC for XBOX Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass subscribers on day one, a survival game set in a technically advanced world of floating islands where you build, farm, craft gadgets, and hop an airship to explore distant islands in the sky, solo or with friends. Sharing the day is Undisputed on Cloud, XBOX Series X|S, Handheld, and PC for XBOX Game Pass Ultimate, Premium, and PC Game Pass subscribers, a boxing sim that leans hard on authenticity, with true-to-life visuals, a deep roster of licensed fighters, and fine control over every inch of the ring.

Arguably the biggest title of the month, despite its age, Persona 5 Royal joins on Cloud, Console, and PC for XBOX Game Pass Ultimate, Premium, and PC Game Pass subscribers. The definitive version of one of the most beloved modern JRPGs, it has you leading the Phantom Thieves of Hearts through stylish turn-based combat, dungeon crawling, social links, and Persona fusion, all while balancing daily life in Tokyo. As someone who can lose entire weekends to a good RPG, this is the easiest recommendation in the wave, and having it on XBOX Game Pass makes it a no-brainer for anyone who never got around to it the first time.
June 11 is the busiest day of the wave with three additions. Beastro comes to Cloud, XBOX Series X|S, Handheld, and PC for XBOX Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass subscribers, an odd but charming blend of cozy life sim and deckbuilding where you team up with an injured god and a ragtag crew, cooking magical meals to shape their decks for fights against the monsters wrecking your home. Frog Sqwad lands the same day on Cloud, XBOX Series X|S, and PC for XBOX Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass subscribers, a slapstick co-op extraction puzzle-platformer for up to eight players where you swing, catapult your friends, and eat your way into a giant Megafrog. Rounding out the day is Starseeker: Astroneer Expeditions (Game Preview), a day one release on Cloud, XBOX Series X|S, and PC for XBOX Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass subscribers. We covered Starseeker when it locked in its June 11 date, and it sets a new co-op adventure in the Astroneer universe aboard the ESS Starseeker, where the whole crew works together on planet-wide objectives across different star systems.
The wave wraps on June 16 with Junkster, a day one release on Cloud, XBOX Series X|S, Handheld, and PC for XBOX Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass subscribers. It’s a 3D action platformer built around a building mechanic, casting you as UM-13, a plucky little construction bot stranded on a dangerous junkyard planet with nothing but a trusty robo-wrench to repair his ship and recover a lost cargo of human artifacts.
A handful of games are leaving XBOX Game Pass on June 15, so wrap up anything unfinished or save 20 percent by buying them outright before they go:
- Jurassic World Evolution 2 (Cloud, Console, and PC)
- Lost in Random: The Eternal Die (Cloud, Console, and PC)
- Scott Pilgrim vs. The World (Cloud, Console, and PC)
- Warhammer 40K Space Marine: Master Crafted Edition (Cloud, Console, and PC)
- Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder’s Revenge (Cloud, Console, and PC)
