The Resident Evil Requiem marketing machine has been churning ever since the game debuted at Summer Game Fest 2025. Capcom has managed to keep it in the spotlight leading up to its February 27 launch by strategically releasing more and more information about the upcoming title. The biggest surprise was the return of Leon S. Kennedy, who will serve as a gameplay contrast to co-protagonist Grace Ashcroft. The latest thing to get everyone excited actually doesn’t have much to do with the game at all. It’s a short film, titled “Evil Has Always Had A Name.”

The short film, which is slightly over three and a half minutes, pretty much sets up Resident Evil Requiem by showing the Raccoon City Destruction Incident. What’s rather funny, though, is that it’s better than all the Resident Evil live-action adaptations we’ve gotten over the years. Maika Monroe stars as the lead, playing a mother who’s just living her life prior to the incident.

Now there’s a new Resident Evil movie in production, directed by Zach Cregger. It’s expected to release in theaters on September 18, 2026. Given that the franchise is more popular than ever, Cregger’s movie is going to have a lot to live up to.
