IO Interactive says a free DLC for 007 First Light is “just around the bend,” with the full reveal set for October 1. The tease went out on the game’s X account today alongside a short clip of a car driving along a scenic road, and that is pretty much all that the studio has shared so far. The only new missions since launch have been The Workshop and Extraction Avenues, the two TacSim Escalations that arrived with July’s Update 1.1.0, while PC players also got the path tracing update IO promised for the summer.
IO laid out a Year One roadmap back in June, and two of its TacSim entries involve driving: a run down Slovakia’s mountain slopes in the Aston Martin Valhalla and off-road challenges in the Mauritanian desert. Neither has shipped yet, and between the wording of the tease and the clip, my guess is this is one of those two, with the Valhalla looking like the better fit. The roadmap also included the Bawma Will Return story mission starring Lenny Kravitz, which IO described at the time as the game’s first post-launch story mission, along with New Game+ and a Photo Mode.
Driving only shows up occasionally in the campaign, as I noted in my review, and the two Escalations added in July were built around stealth and finding a route out. 007 First Light has sold over four million copies as of August, and last week it picked up six Golden Joystick nominations, tied with Big Walk for the most of any game. It’s available on PlayStation 5, XBOX Series X|S, and PC, with the Switch 2 version delayed again to March 2027. The teaser is on the game’s X account.
