IO Interactive’s first major patch for 007 First Light is out today, tackling more than 200 community and internally reported issues while sneaking in some new content on the side. Update 1.1.0 is the studio’s first proper patch beyond the initial run of hotfixes, and IO Interactive credits player reports, support tickets, and detailed breakdowns for helping the team figure out where to focus. You can see the highlights in the update’s overview video.
On the content side, the update adds two new three-tier TacSim Escalations. The Workshop is a stealth-focused mission that drops Bond into a dimly lit workspace with seven hostiles between him and a clean exit, while Extraction Avenues is all about the getaway, asking players to read the security layout and find the right route out before the response closes in. There’s also a new batch of TacSim rewards to spend Intel on, with each costing 3,000: the Stormberg 50’cal at Clearance Level 10, the DRX-2 Machine Pistol at Level 12, the DRS-7 Silenced SMG at Level 16, and the Diamond in the Rough outfit at Level 18.
The fix list is where most of the work went. The infamous achievement unlock bugs are addressed, including A Legacy of Spycraft, For Your Eyes Only, and the Epic Games Store version of Casino Royale, alongside several XBOX Series S crash fixes, the bug that played cutscenes at double speed after pausing, an issue on PlayStation where aiming down sights stopped working after opening system menus, and a fix for XBOX controllers requiring a full game restart after disconnecting. In my review, I called 007 First Light a playable Bond movie, though I also said it was full of small moments of jank, from oblivious AI to stingy checkpoints, so it’s encouraging to see this patch clear out dozens of spots where Bond could get stuck in geometry across nearly every mission.
Update sizes vary wildly by platform, and PlayStation 5 owners drew the short straw with a 23.84 GB download, while the XBOX Series X|S version is just 1.39 GB, with Steam at 3.6 GB, the Epic Games Store at 3.99 GB, and the Microsoft Store on PC at 2.24 GB. IO Interactive says more improvements and content updates are already in development.
