007 First Light Switch 2 Date Set After Two Delays
007 First Light arrives on Switch 2 on March 18, 2027, with preorders open and a $69.99 Deluxe Edition that adds the GoldenEye Suit early.
It took two delays, but 007 First Light finally has a firm Switch 2 release date of March 18, 2027, nearly ten months after the game launched on May 27 on PlayStation 5, XBOX Series X|S, and PC. The Switch 2 version was originally supposed to ship alongside the other platforms before IO Interactive pushed it to later in the summer in April, and then moved it again to March 2027 in September without a specific date. Alongside today’s confirmation, IO Interactive and Amazon MGM Studios released a new gameplay trailer showing Bond’s origin story running on Nintendo’s hardware.
Since the September delay, IO Interactive has had hands-on Switch 2 builds at both gamescom and Tokyo Game Show, and the studio says the response from players and press at both events was positive. The remaining months before launch are going toward optimization and performance on the Switch 2. Preorders are open now through the Nintendo Store, Amazon, and select retailers, with the Deluxe Edition priced at $69.99 and bundling early access to the GoldenEye Suit, the Gleaming Lighter, Earphones, Dart Gun, and Pen gadgets, and four additional outfits: Day of the Dead, Desert Explorer, Silent Anchor, and Gentleman Operator. There’s also a Special Edition sold exclusively through Amazon that comes with the Classic Tuxedo.
As I said in my review, 007 First Light doesn’t add much that’s mechanically new, and the enemy AI swings between forgiving and broken, but it plays like a full Bond movie from start to finish, which made it an easy recommendation for anyone after that kind of power fantasy. I’d written it off as generic before launch, and it still won me over, something I admitted again when it passed four million copies sold in under three months. IO Interactive has the Switch 2 announcement on its site.
