It looks like Monolith’s working X title has an actual title now: Xenoblade Chronicles X. The company showed off a new trailer for its RPG that will be heading to the Wii U next year during Nintendo’s E3 2014 Digital Event. Xenoblade Chronicles X stars a character named Elma and features small groups of survivors of an intergalactic war that still remain on Earth. Those individuals have been left to fend for themselves in a beautiful, yet hostile environment. According to Nintendo, players will get to engage against powerful creatures of all forms and sizes using the deep battle system that builds on the triumphs of Xenoblade Chronicles for Wii.

What has us really excited is the fact that we’ll get to ride and control weaponized mechs in Xenoblade Chronicles X. The company also revealed that characters improve in different classes and they will learn new combat and defensive skills, or Arts. Players can then customize the Arts palette, which sounds like a skill bar to us. The Arts will have a cooldown timer before the skill can be re-used again – so if anyone has ever played an MMORPG or the original Xenoblade Chronicles, the system will feel right at home. Lastly, this time around, players will be able to customize everything about the main character’s appearance, including gender, shape, height, skin color, voice and tattoos.
