XBOX Insiders are getting four new console features to test starting today, spanning game captures, achievement history, cloud saves, and wishlists. Some are limited to the Alpha Skip-Ahead ring for now, while others are rolling out more broadly. It’s the second Insider batch since June, when XBOX brought back 15-character Gamertags and added game hubs for XBOX 360 titles.
The capture change lets Alpha Skip-Ahead members include chat audio in their game recordings, covering both party chat and game chat. When you’re in a party, you decide whether party chat is included in your captures. Each player controls whether their own voice can be recorded. Nobody gets captured without opting in first. Outside of a party, game chat audio can be included the same way.
Achievement history is picking up new sorting options for Alpha Skip-Ahead members, on top of the default last played view. You can now sort games by name, completion percentage, Gamerscore earned, or number of achievements unlocked, and every option works in ascending or descending order. This is the third round of achievement changes to reach Insiders this year, after April’s visual refresh and hide-games option and May’s Gamerscore badges test. XBOX called the April batch the first step in a broader set of improvements aimed at recognizing completion and milestone moments.
Cloud save restore is further along than the other two, already available to XBOX Insiders and rolling out to more players next week. In supported games, you can browse previously synced cloud save versions from the console and restore an earlier one, found under Manage game & add-ons > Saved data > Restore saved data. Forza Horizon 6 is the only supported title at the moment, with XBOX saying more will follow in future updates.
The wishlist change is the only one here that’s already live for all players, raising the cap to 1,000 games. That follows June’s addition of wishlisting directly from game cards and April’s arrival of wishlist alerts in the XBOX mobile app.
XBOX is pointing Insiders toward the Player Voice portal for feedback on all of this, the same channel it opened in May. Alpha Skip-Ahead features generally widen to the other Insider rings before reaching everyone, so the capture and achievement changes should surface for more players over the coming weeks.
