For the first time since it debuted in 2024, the Triple-i Initiative is running two showcases in a single year. Evil Empire announced a surprise edition airing October 8 at 9:00 AM Pacific (12:00 PM Eastern), following the same format as April’s show: 45 minutes of back-to-back trailers covering 40 games, with no ads, no sponsors, and no hosts. When I previewed the April edition, I called the Triple-i one of the best indie showcases on the gaming calendar for exactly that reason, and it’s great to hear we’re getting a second showcase this year.
Eight exclusive world premieres are on the docket, with Team17, Amanita Design, Strange Scaffold, and Norsfell among the studios bringing something new. On the returning favorites side, Evil Empire is promising reveals for Dave the Diver, Brotato, Chained Together, Risk of Rain 2, and Windrose, plus news on Hela: of Mice and Magic, Militsioner, the new Among Us title, Pony Island 2: Panda Circus, Haunted Paws, and Outward 2.
Past showcases are where Slay the Spire 2, Don’t Starve Elsewhere, and Graveyard Keeper 2 were first revealed, along with DLC for Katana ZERO, Vampire Survivors, and Barotrauma, so the track record for meaningful announcements rather than sizzle reels is there. Evil Empire runs the not-for-profit event alongside its own development work, which currently includes Castlevania: Belmont’s Curse and ongoing updates to Brotato, and says the showcase has grown year over year in the industry’s top markets since the first edition.
The show streams on YouTube, Twitch, Steam, bilibili, and niconico, and Evil Empire is also recruiting Twitch and YouTube creators to co-stream it live. Participating studios will be announced in the run-up to October 8.
