In May, CD Projekt Red surprised fans by announcing Songs of the Past, a third expansion for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt scheduled to arrive in 2027. The developer will reveal more information next month during gamescom Opening Night Live on August 25 at 11:00 a.m. Pacific (2:00 p.m. Eastern). Following Opening Night Live, guided presentations of the expansion will be held in the gamescom business area at booth B065 in Hall 4.2 from August 26 to August 28. Presentations will also be available in the entertainment area at booths B030 and A031 in Hall 8.1 from August 26 to August 30. Players and members of the press attending gamescom will be able to see the new expansion in action.

The third expansion for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt will put players back in the role of Geralt of Rivia and launch on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. Songs of the Past is being co-developed with Polish studio Fool’s Theory, whose team includes industry veterans who worked on The Witcher 3. Although the announcement was unexpected, another expansion makes plenty of business sense. The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt has now sold more than 65 million copies, and Songs of the Past will give players another Geralt adventure ahead of The Witcher 4.
