Pokémon UNITE Shuts Down on March 23, 2027
Pokémon UNITE ends service March 23, 2027, on Switch and mobile. Aeos gem sales stop today, and a November 12 update adds a library feature.
Pokémon UNITE is shutting down on March 23, 2027, at 00:00 UTC, or 5:00 PM Pacific (8:00 PM Eastern) on March 22 here in the U.S., according to an end-of-service notice posted today by The Pokémon Company. The shutdown covers both the Switch and mobile versions of the free-to-start 5v5 MOBA, which launched on Switch on July 21, 2021, and arrived on Android and iOS that September. Developed by Tencent’s TiMi Studio Group alongside The Pokémon Company, the game will have run for a little over five and a half years by the time the servers go offline, and the notice doesn’t give a reason for ending service.
As of today, Aeos gem sales have been suspended, along with new UNITE Club memberships and automatic renewals. Anyone sitting on a pile of Aeos gems can still spend them until service ends, and current UNITE Club members keep their benefits through the end of whatever membership period they’ve already paid for. On November 12, the game gets an update with a special event that lets players pick up items including Unite licenses and Holowear from throughout the game’s run. The same update adds a library feature for viewing certain records and in-game content, and it’s the only part of Pokémon UNITE that will still work after the shutdown.
Using the library after service ends requires completing a data download before the March 23 cutoff, and anyone who skips that step won’t be able to access it afterward. The Pokémon Company also notes that library data generally can’t be transferred when changing devices, and there won’t be any support for the feature once service ends, so any issues need to go to Support before the cutoff. After that date, players won’t be able to log in or participate in battles, and the game’s content guidelines for online platforms will no longer be published or maintained, meaning no more support for using Pokémon UNITE video and images.
The Pokémon UNITE Aeos Crown 2027 Tokyo competitive tournament is still happening as previously announced, with qualifiers starting on December 5. Pokémon UNITE isn’t the only Pokémon service ending early next year, either, with Pokémon Bank shutting down on February 25, 2027.
