Central Park is the one corner of New York City The Division has never touched, and that’s changing with Echoes of Central Park, the next DLC for The Division 2 teased today during a gamescom Community Panel. The Division 2 team briefly shared details and unveiled the DLC’s key art during the panel, which also touched on the game’s upcoming season, with a full reveal set for September 24.

Ubisoft describes Echoes of Central Park as rooted in mystery and fear, exploring a darker tone than the series has gone for before. The setup has the Upper West Side petrified with fear as Division Agents arrive at Central Park to answer a distress call coming from inside, with no idea what’s in there or what happened since the outbreak. From there, it’s on you to untangle the mysteries, find help to prepare, and finally enter the park to face whatever is waiting.

According to the panel, the DLC gives the team an opportunity to explore a different type of enemy for the series, which the developers summed up in one word: fear. The team called blending horror themes with the franchise’s Tom Clancy identity an interesting and exciting challenge, and an opportunity to bring something new to the brand. The developers also noted the intent wasn’t to make just another story DLC, with a stronger focus on gameplay this time around.

Echoes of Central Park joins a busy slate for a franchise I’ve now been playing for a decade, as I got into in my review of The Division Resurgence. The Division 2: Survivors was announced at last year’s gamescom, and Resurgence itself is now available on Steam.
