Going gold means development is wrapped and the game is ready to be pressed to disc (lol), and with the date just over three weeks out, the studio’s final stretch is all about polish. It’s a milestone that caps a busy summer of reveals, from the story trailer at Comic-Con to the wave of hands-on previews detailing the Rage system and the Team X era.
There’s no secret about where we stand on this one, since Marvel’s Wolverine sits at the top of our most anticipated games of 2026. The story picks up three years after Logan walked out on Team X, dragging him back to the mutant task force as Bolivar Trask kidnaps mutants around the world, with the adventure spanning Canada, Japan, and the island nation of Madripoor. Insomniac has positioned this as a darker, more mature outing than its Marvel’s Spider-Man series, and it’s the studio’s first release since 2023.
For anyone still planning their purchase, Insomniac has said the full game ships on the disc and is playable out of the box, though the studio still recommends the day one patch.
