It really does seem like ever since the success of Monster Hunter World, Capcom has been on a roll. While Street Fighter 5 was overall a disappointment to the community (at least initially), Street Fighter 6 is looking like it’ll be the best entry the series has seen yet. A demo was recently launched that let players get a small glimpse at what Street Fighter 6 will have to offer, mainly for its World Tour single-player component, but now an open beta has been announced for May 19 to May 21. Available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam, the open beta’s content will be the same as closed beta #2, which means eight characters, the Battle Hub experience, and online crossplay.

With all the opportunities Capcom is giving players to check out Street Fighter 6 ahead of its launch, it’s clear the company is very confident in what the game has to offer. It’s going to launch in a crowded window, competing against Diablo IV’s early access launch, and Final Fantasy XVI releases a few weeks after. Although it may appear players who are interested in Diablo IV and Final Fantasy XVI couldn’t care less for Street Fighter 6, it does seem like the game is attracting new, casual players with its robust character creation and single-player campaign. Between the demo and the open beta, many players will get a good idea of whether or not Street Fighter 6 will appeal to them.
