Pokémon is teaming up with Aardman on a stop-motion animated series, with a new teaser trailer revealing Pokémon Tales: The Misadventures of Sirfetch’d & Pichu ahead of a 2027 debut on Disney+. The teaser marks the first proper look at the project, along with confirmation of its title, its two stars, and where it will stream.
The series follows Sirfetch’d and Pichu, described as unlikely heroes on a gallant quest to protect Pokémon across Galar, the region introduced in Pokémon Sword and Shield. Their missions rarely go as planned. That’s pretty much the premise of the series, with the official description promising peril, alliances, rivalries, extraordinary Pokémon, and endless laughs as the duo’s noble deeds forge their friendship.
Aardman is the Bristol studio behind Wallace & Gromit, Shaun the Sheep, and Chicken Run, so the franchise’s creatures are in experienced claymation hands. This also isn’t Pokémon’s first stop-motion venture, with Pokémon Concierge having taken a similar handcrafted approach on Netflix, though the Disney+ home makes this a new streaming destination for the franchise’s animated output. Pokémon Tales: The Misadventures of Sirfetch’d & Pichu arrives on Disney+ in 2027.
