Gears of War: E-Day has gone gold, The Coalition confirmed today, a little under three weeks before the prequel launches on October 6 for XBOX Series X|S, XBOX on PC, and Steam. The game, which XBOX confirmed as a console exclusive at this year’s XBOX Games Showcase, arrives day one with Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass, while Premium Edition buyers get a head start of up to five days beginning October 1. Preorders are open at GearsofWar.com, XBOX Design Lab added a matching controller last month, and XBOX has already published the full achievement list for anyone who wants to plan ahead.
Preloading starts on September 29 at 8:00 AM Pacific (11:00 AM Eastern) across XBOX Series X|S, XBOX on PC, and Steam, whether you’re coming in through Game Pass or a preorder. Early access opens on October 1 at 8:00 AM Pacific (11:00 AM Eastern), with the worldwide launch following on October 6 at the same time. Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass members can start playing on October 6, so the early start is limited to those who pick up the Premium Edition.
Alongside the gold announcement, The Coalition shared the final PC specifications, which it says it has continued to tune for stability and performance since the multiplayer open beta in July. On the features side, the PC version supports NVIDIA DLSS 4.5, AMD FSR 4, and Intel XeSS 3.0, along with hardware ray-traced reflections, shadows, and global illumination, a built-in benchmark mode with advanced PC settings, and HDR and ultrawide monitor support. Two requirements apply regardless of tier: 115GB of storage on an SSD, and a graphics card with dedicated hardware ray tracing, since cards without it aren’t supported at all.
At the minimum tier, The Coalition is targeting 1080p at 60 FPS on the Medium preset with an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5050 or RTX 2060, or an AMD Radeon RX 6600 or RX 9060, paired with an AMD Ryzen 5 2600X, Intel Core i7-6850K, or Intel Core i5-10400, 6GB of VRAM, and 12GB of RAM. Recommended moves up to 1440p at 60+ FPS on High with an RTX 5060 or RTX 3060 Ti, or an RX 6700 XT or RX 9060 XT, alongside a Ryzen 5 5600 or Core i5-11600K, 8GB of VRAM, and 16GB of RAM. The Ultra tier for 4K at 60+ FPS calls for an RTX 5070 Ti or RX 7900 XT with a Ryzen 7 7800X3D or Core i7-14700K and 12GB of VRAM, while RAM stays at 16GB. Every tier lists DLSS, FSR, TSR, and XeSS next to its resolution and frame rate target, and The Coalition notes actual performance will vary depending on hardware, graphics settings, background tasks, and which super-resolution option you choose.
