With a week to go, S-GAME has released the launch trailer for Phantom Blade Zero and confirmed the exact timing for the game’s arrival on PlayStation 5 and PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store. Preloading opens on October 26 at 7:00 PM Pacific (10:00 PM Eastern), and the game unlocks on October 28 at 7:00 PM Pacific (10:00 PM Eastern), which lines up with 10:00 AM Beijing time on October 29. The studio says development has been complete since preorders opened, something I noted when the 11-minute trailer and Donnie Yen’s involvement were revealed in August, and the game is one of our top games to play in October.

The bigger news for some is tucked at the end of the announcement: a PlayStation 5 physical edition is arriving in 2027. Preorders on PlayStation 5 have been digital only since they opened in August, and S-GAME hadn’t said anything either way about a disc release in the months since, which kept the question going right up until the launch trailer. According to the studio, the physical release will come in Standard, Deluxe, and Ultimate editions, with the Ultimate Edition packed in a collectible steel case, though there’s no month or pricing yet.

As I said when the August State of Play went over builds and difficulty, Phantom Blade Zero has been one of the most anticipated action games on the radar since its 2023 reveal. That broadcast covered more than 30 main weapons and 25 Phantom Edges, three difficulty modes, and Donnie Yen’s role as creative consultant and as Soul’s father, Mó Yuan. Preorders unlock the Treasure Basin accessory and the Legacy outfit early, and both can also be earned through normal progression.
