Some would say Tomb Raider is currently going through a resurgence. Netflix dropped an animated series that got renewed for season two, a pair of new games were announced at The Game Awards 2025, and Prime Video is working on its own live action series. Today, January 15, Prime Video gave us our first look at the upcoming series, which will star Sophie Turner as Lara Croft. The Game of Thrones veteran is joined by Sigourney Weaver, Jason Isaacs, Martin Bobb-Semple, Jack Bannon, John Heffernan, Bill Paterson, Paterson Joseph, Sasha Luss, Juliette Motamed, Celia Imrie, and August Wittgenstein.
Based on the Tomb Raider video game franchise, the new Prime Video series is led by Phoebe Waller-Bridge as creator, writer, executive producer, and co-showrunner. Chad Hodge is also serving as co-showrunner and executive producer, joined by Jonathan Van Tulleken as director and executive producer. Developer Crystal Dynamics is also part of the production team, along with Story Kitchen and Amazon MGM Studios.
Prime Video hasn’t made an official announcement about when the series will debut, but with production just now underway, it’ll probably be a while.
