The most recent Tomb Raider reboot has sold over 8.5-million copies, Square Enix has announced. With the game available on the PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 while the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One getting a Definitive Edition version, the latest Tomb Raider has outsold all of its predecessors. Tomb Raider was originally released in March 2013 and also set franchise sales records for its first day and month. Tomb Raider: Definitive Edition was made available on the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One consoles in January 2014.

The sequel to Tomb Raider will be console exclusive to Xbox one when it launches and it’s still unclear how long the exclusivity will be before it heads to the PlayStation 4.
“TOMB RAIDER ignited and expanded the fan base, pushing the series to a new level. The game’s incredible sales success reflects the passionate response of players,” said Darrell Gallagher, head of studio at Crystal Dynamics. “Our studio is proud of what we accomplished with the game.”
