For longtime players of Dissidia Final Fantasy Opera Omnia, the phrase “Rikku when” is permanently etched into our brains. The game shut down in February 2024 without ever adding the Final Fantasy X fan favorite to its roster, and it became one of those running community jokes that never stopped stinging. Well, she’s finally here. Square Enix has dropped the launch trailer for Dissidia Duellum Final Fantasy, confirming the game launches on March 23 Pacific (exact time unknown) for Android and iOS. Preregistration is still ongoing through the App Store and Google Play.

The launch trailer showcases the ghosts from the closed beta alongside several new additions joining the roster at launch. The newly revealed characters include Firion from Final Fantasy II, Onion Knight from Final Fantasy III, Rikku from Final Fantasy X, Iroha from Final Fantasy XI, Balthier from Final Fantasy XII, and Clive Rosfield from Final Fantasy XVI. That means every mainline Final Fantasy entry now has at least one representative in the game, which is a solid foundation for a Dissidia title. When the initial lineup was revealed, I noted it was interesting that Final Fantasy X wasn’t represented at launch, and now we know why Square Enix was saving it.

I’m still not entirely sold on Dissidia Duellum being the Dissidia game the franchise deserves, but seeing Rikku finally make it into a Dissidia game after all these years is enough to get me to download it on day one.
