Devil May Cry 5, which launched on March 8, 2019 on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC, has now sold over 10 million units worldwide. The announcement comes just a couple of months after the Devil May Cry animated series released on Netflix, which Capcom attributes to helping the game’s sales push past 10 million units. The animated series got over 5.3 million views, ranking fourth during its first week globally in the Shows | English category, as well as ranking in the top 10 for seven consecutive days in Japan.
The Devil May Cry series made its first appearance in 2001 and has cumulatively sold more than 33 million units. Considering it’s been over six years since we’ve seen an entry, it’s very likely Capcom is cooking something up, and we should see a debut soon. The franchise is clearly popular and successful for the brand, and Capcom as a developer has really grown since 2019. This year, the developer released Monster Hunter Wilds, our most anticipated game of the year. In my review, I definitely found issues with the game, especially with PC performance, but Monster Hunter remains one of the most fun co-op experiences around. More recently, it announced Resident Evil Requiem (Resident Evil 9), confirmed Pragmata is still in development with a 2026 launch window, and shared Street Fighter 6’s Year 3 characters.
