Crimson Desert launched yesterday at 3:00 PM Pacific (6:00 PM Eastern), and in less than 24 hours, Pearl Abyss has announced the game has already sold through two million copies worldwide. For a brand-new IP from a studio best known for the MMO Black Desert Online, that’s a solid number.

Pearl Abyss shared the milestone on social media, saying, “We are incredibly humbled to share that Crimson Desert has sold through 2 million copies worldwide. Thank you so much to our fans, community, and everyone who has joined us in Pywel. We will listen closely to the wide range of feedback shared by the community and work to make improvements quickly, doing our utmost to make the journey ahead even more enjoyable for our players.”

Despite what everyone on Reddit and social media want you to believe, two million copies in under 24 hours is an incredible achievement for what is essentially a new franchise. At the time of the announcement, Crimson Desert was sitting at over 180,000 concurrent players on PC alone. Sure, the early reception has been a bit polarizing, with some players pointing to confusing controls and a clunky story, but the world and spectacle have clearly resonated with enough people to make this one of 2026’s biggest launches so far.
