Capcom is keeping its Resident Evil momentum going well into the franchise’s 30th anniversary, using Summer Game Fest 2026 to reveal a full remake of one of the series’ most requested classics. Officially titled simply Resident Evil Veronica, dropping the “Code” from the 2000 original, the remake was shown off with a reveal trailer and a 2027 release window.
Resident Evil Veronica reimagines Resident Evil Code: Veronica, the 2000 Dreamcast game that follows Claire Redfield as her search for her brother Chris lands her in an Umbrella facility on a remote prison island, picking up shortly after the events of Resident Evil 2. It has long been the conspicuous gap in Capcom’s remake lineup, which had already worked through Resident Evil 2, 3, and 4, leaving fans asking about Code: Veronica’s return for years. The remake brings the survival horror entry up to modern standards with overhauled visuals and quality-of-life improvements.
As for when and where players can get their hands on it, Resident Evil Veronica is set to launch in 2027, presumably across PlayStation 5, XBOX Series X|S, Switch 2, and PC. The reveal keeps Capcom’s horror output rolling after this year’s Resident Evil Requiem, which became one of the series’ fastest sellers following its February launch. It also marks the second year in a row that Capcom has leaned on Summer Game Fest for a major Resident Evil reveal, after it debuted Requiem on the same stage in 2025.
