God of War Laufey has a release date, and it’s February 16, 2027, announced today during the game’s San Diego Comic-Con panel and confirmed by Santa Monica Studio on X shortly after. The date caps off weeks of narrowing timelines, since the studio’s disc confirmation earlier this month had already locked the game in ahead of Sony’s January 2028 physical media cutoff.

The date also drops Laufey into what is shaping up to be a brutally crowded month. Fable, Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis, and Persona 4 Revival are all currently slated for February 2027, as publishers cluster their releases early in the year to keep clear of Grand Theft Auto 6’s November 2026 orbit. Laufey now headlines that pileup as PlayStation’s first major first-party release of the year.

The panel had one more reveal in it, too. Santa Monica Studio confirmed that another Kratos-led God of War game is in the works, with head of creative Cory Barlog saying it will connect to Laufey and release after it. That’s the extent of what was shared, with no studio, window, or scale attached, though it formalizes what Barlog has been hinting at since the reveal, when he said the team will always tell stories about Kratos and framed Laufey as an expansion of the series rather than a departure.

For anyone catching up, Laufey follows Faye, the warrior and wife of Kratos played by Deborah Ann Woll, who awakens after her funeral in the Everywhen, the afterlife of the gods, and fights to protect the plans she left behind for Kratos and Atreus. We covered the full reveal when it closed out June’s State of Play with 20 minutes of gameplay. God of War Laufey arrives on PlayStation 5, on disc, in just under seven months.
