Bytten Studio and Raw Fury have pinned down the launch window for Cassette Beasts 2002, announcing at gamescom that the creature-collecting sequel arrives in March 2027. The news came alongside a new trailer that shows off some of the game’s new characters and its voice cast, and the team is at the show in Cologne all week giving attendees hands-on time.

Cassette Beasts 2002 is a retro-inspired, turn-based creature collector set in Nodnol, which is London spelled backwards and a nostalgic ode to the city as it looked in the 2000s. The story has players unraveling an occultist’s plot in a world where man and beast collide, and you can transform into more than 250 beasts along the way. The original Cassette Beasts released in 2023 and picked up a 2024 BAFTA Games Awards nomination, and Raw Fury is positioning the sequel as both a continuation for returning fans and an entry point for anyone new to the series.

Beyond the trailer, Bytten Studio has been sharing more through its dev blog and social channels, including a look at a revamped party menu as part of a broader UI overhaul. The studio also spotlighted three more beasts. Reapurr is a Beast-element creature that serves as Nodnol’s natural population control, though immature ones are limited to harvesting the souls of miniscule beasts and, apparently, large vegetables. Gunstinger is a Plant-element gunslinger with deadly accurate aim and a strong sense of justice, known for posing dramatically on hilltops with its cape billowing in the wind. Wereknuckle rounds out the trio, a Metal-element Southpaw whose flexible armor plating absorbs kinetic force and redirects it through lightning-quick punches and jabs.

Cassette Beasts 2002 launches in March 2027 on PlayStation 5, XBOX Series X|S, Switch 2, and PC via Steam and XBOX on PC. Raw Fury, which landed among Metacritic’s ten best publishers of 2025, also dated two more releases, with Deep Dish Dungeon arriving October 13 and The Séance of Blake Manor coming to consoles on October 27. As for the sequel, Bytten Studio says it has been working on the game for several years and the finish line is finally in sight.
