Yoshi’s New Island will be released next spring for the Nintendo 2DS and 3DS handheld consoles, the company has revealed. No firm release date was announced earlier this morning during the Nintendo Direct event, but a new teaser trailer was shared. Expect the same gameplay style that Yoshi’s Island featured but expect a few surprises in typical Nintendo style to keep the game fresh and new.

Yoshi’s New Island is being spearheaded by the same creative director of the original Yoshi’s Island for the SNES, Takashi Tezuka. Yoshi’s Island was originally released on the SNES in 1995.
