Ubisoft Has No Other Assassin’s Creed Remake in Development
Ubisoft’s Fall 2026 Assassin’s Creed update sets Valhalla’s New Game+ for November 5 and says no other remake is actively in development.
Ubisoft currently has no other Assassin’s Creed remake in active development, according to the franchise’s Fall 2026 update from head of content Jean Guesdon, even after Black Flag Resynced sold over three million copies in its first week and beat the company’s annual forecast within weeks of launch. The post follows the March update that all but confirmed Resynced, and this time it covers New Game+ for Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, the status of Codename Invictus and Codename Hexe, the Netflix series, and the franchise’s 20th anniversary next year. Guesdon says Resynced taught the company a tremendous amount as its first full remake, but the teams are now focused on the next chapter of Assassin’s Creed, including unannounced projects with new settings and stories. He also made a point of saying the door isn’t closed on revisiting classic titles down the road. Meanwhile, Resynced received its final planned major content update on October 27, adding New Game+, Nightmare Mode, new finishers, and additional customization options, with smaller quality-of-life updates still to come.
The next major update belongs to Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, which recently passed 40 million players and is getting New Game+ on November 5. Ubisoft calls it the “(very, very, very) long-awaited” version of one of the community’s most requested features, which is fair, considering the company announced back in November 2022 that it had dropped the idea entirely because the game’s depth left it with limited options to make replaying it rewarding. The mode lets players restart Eivor’s saga while carrying over much of their progression, with dedicated New Game+ scaling. It also adds an optional progression mode where gear, runes, and masteries all contribute to Eivor’s overall Power, along with new runes, achievements, a stash system, and a Master Assassin outfit inspired by Naoe from Assassin’s Creed Shadows. Mithril arrives as a new resource for upgrading Divine Gear and strengthening runes, Divine Gear quality extends to all items, and full patch notes are coming in the next few days alongside news about current-generation console updates. Ubisoft says feedback on this release will help inform future discussions about bringing similar updates to other Assassin’s Creed titles.

Codename Invictus, the multiplayer project, held its first private Insiders Session a few months ago, with hundreds of players getting hands-on time with an early prototype. Ubisoft says the response to the return of PvP multiplayer was very positive, with testers singling out the parkour and verticality of the maps, the teamplay, and the ability to play as different Assassin’s Creed characters, each with their own skills. The clearest piece of feedback was that players wanted more of the elements that define the series, so the team spent the past few months adjusting Invictus in that direction. Ubisoft also warns that anything circulating online about the project may be outdated or inaccurate. When Ubisoft last mentioned Invictus in March, I doubted it would ever launch given how most multiplayer PvP projects have fared lately. Codename Hexe, the darker entry from Ubisoft Montreal, is only described as making steady progress with work still ahead, and its next major update won’t come until 2027, which tracks with what I said in March about it being a ways off. The Hexe section also closes with another string of cipher text for the community to decode.
Production on Netflix’s live-action Assassin’s Creed series, which finally moved forward last summer, is nearing completion in Rome, where Guesdon visited the set and consulted on the scripts. Composer Hannah Peel has also joined to score the series, though there’s still no release date. Assassin’s Creed turns 20 next year, and Ubisoft is planning a year of reveals, updates, rewards, and community events starting in 2027, with the anniversary logo shown off in the update. The post rounds out with the Assassin’s Creed Leadership Team led by Martin Schelling, which was announced earlier this year, a second community survey that’s live now, and closed-door workshops with community members and content creators planned for this year.
