Today, the team at Ubisoft gave an update on the Assassin’s Creed franchise and what players can expect from it in 2026. The message was delivered by Jean Guesdon, who has stepped into the head of content role after returning to the franchise. Starting things off is Assassin’s Creed Shadows, which will get a livestream on March 20 at 10:00 AM Pacific (1:00 PM Eastern), focusing on the latest game update, a possible reveal of the Parkour Challenge winners, and some drops and giveaways. The biggest news here is that Ubisoft confirmed Shadows will be moving into its final phase of support, so things will wind down with smaller, less frequent updates.
That means focus is turning to what’s next for the franchise. The veteran team at Ubisoft Montreal is working on Codename HEXE, which we know very little about. The team did say it’ll be a unique, darker, narrative-driven Assassin’s Creed experience set during a pivotal moment in history. This one sounds like it’s a ways off and it’ll be unveiled when the time is right.
As for the multiplayer PvP Assassin’s Creed experience, currently known as Codename INVICTUS, it’s progressing steadily with a team of For Honor veterans at Ubisoft Montreal. For now, Ubisoft is looking for ways to bring the community in earlier, so they can help shape the upcoming experience. It’ll be interesting if this one ever sees the light of day, considering how poorly many multiplayer PvP projects are doing, like Highguard.
There was a very short mention of Assassin’s Creed Jade, which means it’s at least still in development, and Guesdon confirmed Ubisoft is looking into bringing co-op back to the franchise. The biggest news is basically a confirmation that Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag is getting a remake or remaster, and it’s going to be called Assassin’s Creed: Black Flag Resynced. It’s been long rumored, and while there’s no official reveal today, the artwork is all we need to know it’s coming.
As for other news, we’ll be learning and seeing more about the Assassin’s Creed Netflix live-action series very soon, while Assassin’s Creed Unity is getting a free 60 FPS patch for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S on March 5, 2026. In addition, multiple Assassin’s Creed games will be playable for free for a limited time during Xbox Free Play Days from April 2 to April 6.
