Considering PlayStation is the marketing partner for Grand Theft Auto VI, quite possibly the most anticipated game in the history of gaming, it’s no surprise we’re getting special edition DualSense controllers. There are palm trees molded directly into the grips of these two controllers, which is about as literal a Vice City reference as a piece of hardware can make. Revealed during today’s State of Play, the Black Limited Edition and White Limited Edition both use a color-shifting finish meant to evoke a Vice City sunset bleeding into neon, along with official GTA VI branding. The white one is the daytime version, all white sand and pastel skies. The black one is the nightlife version.
We’ve said plenty of times that custom controllers are the one area where XBOX still runs laps around Sony, though Sony has clearly been taking it more seriously over the past year. Between the Genshin Impact controller, the Hyperpop Collection, the 007 First Light controller, and last month’s Wolverine bundle, limited edition DualSense drops have gone from occasional to routine.

Both controllers launch November 19, the same day as the game, at $84.99, which is the same price Sony has set for every limited edition DualSense from God of War to Wolverine. Preorders open September 10 at 7:00 AM Pacific (10:00 AM Eastern) through PlayStation Direct in the U.S., and eligible orders there get free launch day delivery. The White edition is also heading to participating retailers globally. The Black edition, though, is a PlayStation Direct exclusive where the storefront operates and only reaches select retailers in other regions, so that’s the one to set an alarm for.
Sony is also pitching the DualSense’s haptic feedback and adaptive triggers as part of the GTA VI experience. Funny enough, since the game’s physical version ships without a disc, the controller might end up being the most physical part of anyone’s GTA VI purchase. Preorders for the game itself have been open since June.
