Kalypso Media has posted a video teaser for its upcoming title, Tropico 5. In the highly popular dictator sim series, Tropico 5 invites El Presidente back to the remote island nation of Tropico and introduces several new game features including The Dynasty, where players can have members of El Presidente’s extended family appointed as a ruler, a manager, an ambassador, or a general. But the most exciting announcement for the fifth title in the series is the addition of cooperative and competitive multiplayer for up to four players.

Players will play from the 19th century through the 21st century, which means you’ll have to be savvy enough to survive both World Wars and prosper through the Great Depression, at the very least. According to the developer, all artwork in Tropico 5 has been reworked to provide the title a distinct historic visual identity. There will be over 100 unique buildings from each individual era to choose from. Tropico 5 has no set release date yet, but it will be sometime in 2014.
