Circana has shared March 2025 video game sales data for the U.S., revealing the top-selling games for the month. Year over year, March 2025 saw a 6 percent drop in total video game sales, a 25 percent drop in video game hardware sales, and an 11 percent drop in video game accessory sales. According to Mat Piscatella, Circana’s Executive Producer for Games Reports, this is the lowest March hardware spending total since 2019. With Switch 2 preorders going live this month, hardware spending is poised to reach new heights.
Below is the full list of the 20 top-selling video games for March 2025 in the U.S. There are some staples continuing to make an appearance, such as Red Dead Redemption 2, Grand Theft Auto V, and Minecraft, while it was nice to see Xenoblade Chronicles X: Definitive Edition find its way on the list. Split Fiction had a successful launch despite being a co-op game, landing in the fifth spot.
20. EA Sports College Football 25
It took over a decade and NIL agreements, but EA Sports finally has an NCAA Football game again with EA Sports College Football 25. It continues to sell well despite its July 19, 2024 release. EA Sports College Football 25 is available on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.
19. Marvel’s Spider-Man 2
Although Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 originally released on PlayStation 5 on October 20, 2023, it reached PC on January 30, 2025. Considering the popularity of Spider-Man, it’s no surprise the game continues to be a best-seller on both PlayStation 5 and PC.
18. Suikoden I & II HD Remaster: Gate Rune & Dunan Unification Wars
It’s a pleasant surprise to see Suikoden I & II HD Remaster: Gate Rune & Dunan Unification Wars make the list. The remastered compilation—featuring two classic JRPGs updated for the modern era—launched on March 6, 2025 for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, Switch, and PC.
17. Xenoblade Chronicles X: Definitive Edition
Xenoblade Chronicles X was my favorite game on the Wii U; it’s impressive what Monolith Soft has achieved with Xenoblade Chronicles X: Definitive Edition on the Switch. While the story hasn’t aged well—especially compared to the fantastic Xenoblade Chronicles 3—the focus on exploration in X’s massive open world still appeals to a different kind of player. The game launched on March 20 exclusively on the Switch.
16. Elden Ring
At this point, FromSoftware’s Elden Ring needs no introduction. Originally launched on February 25, 2022, Elden Ring is widely considered one of the best games ever created. Its sizeable expansion, Shadow of the Erdtree, launched on June 21, 2024. The franchise is getting a standalone multiplayer spin-off, Elden Ring Nightreign, on May 30, 2025.
15. Madden NFL 25
It’s one of the longest-running franchises in gaming, and no matter how minimal the gameplay updates are each year, it will continue to sell well. The latest entry, Madden NFL 25, launched on August 16, 2024, on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.
14. Red Dead Redemption 2
Rockstar Games’ creations continue to stand out from the rest of the industry. Despite having launched in 2018, Red Dead Redemption 2 remains a familiar sight on Circana’s lists. The game launched on PC in December 2019 and consistently ranks among the top 50 on Steam’s list of most concurrent players. It’s genuinely surprising that the game hasn’t received a “remake” treatment.
13. EA Sports FC 25
Soccer isn’t just popular in Europe anymore; EA Sports FC 25 lands among the top-selling games of March 2025 in the U.S. Originally launched on September 27, 2024, it’s yet another highly successful sports title for the EA Sports brand.
12. Grand Theft Auto V
Another Rockstar Games title on the list, Grand Theft Auto V has been a best-seller since its initial release over a decade ago. Players will finally get their hands on Grand Theft Auto VI sometime this year, and we’re sure it will be a perennial best-seller too.
11. Minecraft
Minecraft is the best-selling video game of all time, and with March leading up to the release of A Minecraft Movie on April 4, it’s no surprise the game saw a bump in sales. It’s a testament to Minecraft’s mass appeal that it continues to attract new players generation after generation.
10. Kingdom Come: Deliverance II
Kingdom Come: Deliverance II was the second best-selling game in its release month, February 2025. Although it saw a drop-off in March, it continues to do well. This story-driven action RPG is set in 15th-century medieval Europe and has players take on the role of Henry of Skalitz, who sets off on a journey to avenge his murdered parents.
9. Bleach Rebirth of Souls
Bleach is one of the most popular anime series of all time, so it’s no surprise that even an average video game adaptation will sell well. Released on March 20, 2025, Bleach Rebirth of Souls retells Ichigo’s journey—from his rise as a Soul Reaper in the Substitute Soul Reaper Arc to the final battle against Sōsuke Aizen in the Arrancar Arc.
8. NBA 2K25
Yet another sports title to land on the list is NBA 2K25. The NBA 2K series is widely considered the best basketball experience for gamers, and the latest entry launched on September 3, 2024, on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, Switch, and PC.
7. PGA Tour 2K25
Golf remains popular in the U.S., and when you can’t hit the links in real life, you do so virtually with PGA Tour 2K25. The game ranks high on the list thanks to its February 28, 2025 release on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.
6. Call of Duty: Black Ops 6
Just like many of the sports games on this list, Call of Duty titles will always sell well. The latest entry in the series, Black Ops 6, is no different. It ranks near the top of March 2025 sales, even though it originally launched on October 25, 2024, on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.
5. Split Fiction
We absolutely loved our time with Split Fiction, and we’re happy to hear it sold well following its March 6 launch. The co-op-only game from Hazelight Studios, packed with creativity and diverse gameplay throughout, continues to build on the success of A Way Out and It Takes Two. The sales are even more impressive, considering only one of the two players needs to own a copy thanks to the free Friend’s Pass.
4. WWE 2K25
Not even middling reviews will stop WWE 2K25 from selling well. Launched on March 14, 2025, this successor to WWE 2K24 is available on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. It shows just how popular the WWE brand remains after all these years, with its iconic characters and personalities.
3. Monster Hunter Wilds
The best-selling game of February 2025, despite launching on February 28, finds itself dropping to third place in March. Monster Hunter Wilds was our most anticipated game of the year, and it mostly delivered. However, PC performance was frustratingly poor, with constant crashes for many of us.
2. MLB The Show 25
It wasn’t football, basketball, soccer, or wrestling that claimed the title of best-selling sports game for March 2025. That honor goes to MLB The Show 25, which launched on March 18, 2025. Unlike other major sports franchises, MLB The Show 25 comes from San Diego Studio and is published by Sony Interactive Entertainment.
1. Assassin’s Creed Shadows
Ubisoft really needed a win after the mediocre launch of Star Wars Outlaws, and Assassin’s Creed Shadows may have delivered. Though Assassin’s Creed Shadows topped the U.S. sales chart in March 2025, it might not be the best in the series—but at least it isn’t disappointing fans.
