Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream, which is set to launch sometime in fall 2026, is getting its own Direct event on January 29 at 6:00 AM Pacific (9:00 AM Eastern). Nintendo says to expect roughly 20 minutes of information on the upcoming Nintendo Switch game. The highly anticipated title brings the Tomodachi Life series back after a hiatus of over a decade. The original Tomodachi Life was a Nintendo 3DS game that launched first in Japan in 2013 before heading worldwide a year later.
Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream was first revealed in March 2025 during a Nintendo Direct. The new game will put players on a small island floating in the sea, where Mii characters are living their own carefree lives. Players will be in charge of the island, allowing them to create anyone they’d like as Mii characters to live there. From there, they’ll be able to choose each Mii’s personality and voice, while helping them enjoy their island life however they see fit. It’s basically a life simulator, similar to what you’d expect from The Sims, but with zany interactions that give it a lot of charm.
Considering Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream’s release isn’t until fall, it is a bit interesting that the game is getting a Direct this early in the year.
