Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Last Ronin is back in the spotlight after a long quiet stretch, resurfacing at Summer Game Fest 2026 with a fresh teaser trailer and some major changes behind the scenes. The AAA action-adventure game is now being developed by PlatinumGames, the studio behind Bayonetta and NieR: Automata, and published under Paramount’s newly formed Paramount Games Studio.

It is a different setup from when the game first surfaced in 2023, which had Black Forest Games developing it under THQ Nordic. Neither is attached to this new version, which Paramount confirms is being built by PlatinumGames, a studio already familiar with the license after making Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutants in Manhattan in 2016. Paramount Games Studio, for its part, is a new division that pulls together the company’s gaming efforts, including Skydance Interactive and Skydance New Media, with The Last Ronin among its first AAA titles.

Based on the acclaimed IDW comic from TMNT co-creators Kevin Eastman and Peter Laird, The Last Ronin follows the last surviving Ninja Turtle through a future, battle-ravaged New York City on a desperate mission for justice. Paramount confirmed the game is coming to consoles and PC, though there is no release window yet and no Steam page to wishlist. With the reveal limited to a short teaser, the studios are keeping most of the game under wraps for now, while Paramount lines up a prequel comic one-shot, The Last Ronin: Training Day, due July 9.
