The sequel we hoped for in our Stellar Blade review, where we called the game a strong enough foundation that we wanted it to be the start of a franchise, now has a name. SHIFT UP used its Summer Game Fest spot to reveal Stellar Blade: Blood Rain, the next entry in the action-adventure series, with the original team back on development.
According to SHIFT UP, Blood Rain picks up after the events of the first game and introduces a new protagonist named Evie, with the studio describing it as an expansion of the world in a new direction. This is an early look, as the project is still in early development, and SHIFT UP says it plans to share more once the game is further along. What we do see is Stellar Blade’s familiar combat, though Evie is much more of a close-range brawler, trading Eve’s sword for punches and kicks.
The footage shown was captured in-game on PC, though SHIFT UP noted that it comes from a game still in development and is subject to change. The studio did not announce platforms or a release window, leaving both to be confirmed at a later date.
For context, the original Stellar Blade launched on PlayStation 5 in 2024 and made its way to PC in 2025, serving as SHIFT UP’s first major action title after its mobile work. Blood Rain marks the team’s first follow-up in that universe.
